I returned back a couple of weeks ago from a research trip in London, England. It was busy–trying to see everything in one week is hard. And only regency writers can be hanging against the window of a taxi like a salivating dog, saying, “OMG! I’m really on Park Lane! There’s Hyde Park. I set a scene in Hyde Park!”
The photo is of me on the steps of White’s Gentleman’s Club, which I’ve used in some of my stories. It was taken just a few moments before the doorman/bouncer came out and told me I was not allowed to stand in front of the door. Photos only below the steps, please. So I was “tossed off” the steps of White’s!
Hot Silk, my October release is on the shelves, and I recently turned in my next vampire story. I’m posting a small excerpt of Hot Silk, where the hero becomes a little vulnerable…
She leaned in more to reach his hand, pushing her breasts against him. He opened his mouth as wide as he could to take a big mouthful of breast. He suckled hard on her skin and heard her desperate whimper of pleasure.
The linen slid around his wrists, which he held together behind his back for her convenience. He moaned at the sensation, the sound muffled by the breast filling his mouth. Her hands worked, brushing his skin. He couldn’t see what she was doing; he could only feel it, and that sensation had him tense and coiled on the seat. It was as though he could explode like gunpowder on the spot.
Her body swayed as she worked, her breasts pushing forward and pulling back. He sucked hungrily at her skin. The fabric went tight around his wrists. Her knee bumped his hard cock and rested on his thigh. She had to be getting leverage to tie him tight.
Damn, he was so aroused.
Her knee kept smacking his cock and he grimaced, fighting for control. He couldn’t come at just the brush of her knee, could he?
“There.” She wriggled on him, moving sensuously, teasing his face with her tits. Then she moved back and he had to let her breast go.
With her teeth nibbling her lower lip, she gazed down at him. A lovely, curvaceous goddess limned by firelight.
“It’s so arousing to see you with your hands bound,” she whispered. “That’s terrible, isn’t it?”
Sweet Grace, revealing her fantasies and so uncertain and shy about them.
“It’s not terrible. It’s natural. We all have fantasies and our most private fantasies can be dark, shocking ones. And sometimes we have ones that are just damned odd.”
Her shy smile made him catch his breath. “After all,” he said, “I’m revealing mine to you.”
“Why would you, a swash-buckling pirate, want to be tied up by a woman?”
“I want to be wanted by a woman that much.”
He heard her soft, surprised gasp, and he watched the deliciously fetching confusion on her face. Then she gave a coquettish smile. “What do I do now, then, Captain? You have a rather upright mast.”

Hi Sharon!!! Now you must write a scene about someone being taken off the steps of White’s!!!
I always love reading about scenes in Whites. Some day I have to look it up so I can learn more about it because I was always fastinated with it. I wish I could go on these ‘research’ trips, yeah right, ‘research’
But I don’t write so my hubby will probably tell me to look it up, LOL.
Thats the last of the Vampire trilogy or there plans for more stories Sharon? And the historical one, those continuing or other trilogy starting? I hope both continue to come in those genres, they are both my favorite genres and I really look forward to yours! I do have HOT SILK on my wishlist to get! Thanks for that tease excerpt from HOT SILK!
Do you have more pics of your trip? I too wondered about those streets named in the books and have never seen them! Again, big hello!
by Caffey · November 14th, 2008 at 4:58 amHi Caffey
That’s a good idea–I must write a heroine who gets thrown off the steps. I have to admit, it is tempting to write about infiltrating those exclusively male places. We even saw gentlemen at the desks, tending to their correspondence.
Blood Deep is sort of a final book for the trilogy, as the heroes are the villains of the first 2 books, but I could certainly do more. Right now, I’m going to have a historical out with Dell Books called The Club (in Feb 09) which is hot (and bordering on erotic–actually quite hot I realize, as I’m review galleys right now), and I’m working on the new series with Dell–Prison Break meets Jane Austen. I’m hoping to write another erotic paranormal when I get a bit further along in the current book. I’d love to do another vampire story–hopefully, editors feel the market is still good for them!

It sounds like you had some great fun and memorable experiences on your trip.
Truly enjoyed your excerpt and love how the hero explained the attraction of his fantasy.
by Little Lamb Lost · November 14th, 2008 at 10:21 pmI wonder what would have happened if you showed the butler the cover of you on the front of RT?!
by Lucinda Betts · November 15th, 2008 at 1:12 pmHi Little Lamb,
by Sharon Page · November 17th, 2008 at 10:23 pmIt was a terrific trip–I also went out to Dartmoor for research, which was an incredible experience too. Especially when I got temporarily lost on the moors. Apparently Anthony Hopkins was filming a werewolf movie out there in the summer.
I have an upcoming book set on Dartmoor, but no paranormal. However, the amazing legends do inspire. I’m planning to post some tales on my site soon.
Lol, Lucinda.
by Sharon Page · November 17th, 2008 at 10:25 pmI still think he would have directed me downstairs. I did visit Murder One, the premier romance independent in London–they are literally packed to the rafters with romance and a hugely supportive of the genre. The RT with my cover was up on the wall–and the romance expert recognized me from my picture (no mean feat, considering I was a bit windblown by then).
They had a great selection of Aphrodisia books.
I was in Hatchards bookstore on Picadilly, which has been in existence since 1797. Only one Aphrodisia there and that was Rachelle’s The Sex Lounge. I left some promo material, so hopefully they’ll pick up more!
