July 4th, 2009 | by KateDouglas |
Good morning and yes, I’m late getting my blog posted and I do apologize, but this past week has been nuts! My new book, Wolf Tales VIII has released and I’m already getting great feedback from readers, but I’m also hearing that it’s not showing up as available in Barnes & Noble stores (in Minnesota, at least) and the day it was due to ship online from B&N the search engine refused to display it.
Am I cursed? No…just typical glitches that always seem to happen about the time a new title releases, but I’m hoping my readers will persevere and manage to find their copies. On the upside, my editor’s wonderful assistant sent me the jpg. of my next book, Wolf Tales 9, and I love it! Note that it’s a “9” not a “IX” for this one—I’ve lost my Roman Numerals and gone Arabic, but I’m okay with that, especially with such a hot cover!
I did laugh when this one came out, though—the guy has these gorgeous tattoos, and anyone who reads my series knows that Chanku lose their tattoos (or piercings or, in the case of one character, an IUD) when they shift. I don’t care—the tattoos are very cool and the couple is perfect for one of my newer pairings of Logan Pierce and Jazzy Blue. Logan’s hair is a little darker, but he had lots of tats before his first shift, and Jazzy is an interracial mix of African American and Asian, an ethnic combination that fits the woman on the cover.
Of course, if it were up to me, I’d boot her out in a heartbeat and keep this guy for myself. He’s absolutely gorgeous, and there’s such a wonderfully sensual feel for the pose and cover, that I really love it.
I’m staying in this weekend and writing. Turned down invites to two 4th of July parties, but I’ve come almost to the end of Wolf Tales 10, and all I want to do is write. I figure I’d be horrible company, anyway, with all the voices clamoring in my head! Some of the things that have happened in this story have been totally unexpected. I had a new character show up—well, a new old one, if that makes sense. Do you remember Igmutaka, the spirit guide who helped Mei and Oliver with their little problem? He suddenly manifested as an absolutely gorgeous, rather androgynous human male—just showed up at the breakfast table one morning. Even Anton was surprised…I’m still not sure where he’s going to fit in, or if he’ll be in the next book (Wolf Tales 11) but things like this definitely keep the job as author interesting. Sometimes I think I’m in control, other times, when stuff like this happens, I wonder if I’m merely channeling entities that exist on another plane…hard to say, but for what it’s worth I’m having a ball and can’t wait to see what happens next.
I want to wish you a very happy 4th of July. Enjoy yourself and be safe!
OOPS! Forgot! Leave a note and I’ll enter you in my contest to win a book, one of the recent releases in the series.

by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 10:13 amPat, I heard from a Minnesota bookseller yesterday who said it’s not showing up in the B&N database. You might want to try Borders!
Thanks, Lisa. They do that…keep me on my toes! This past week has been wild!
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 10:14 amHappy Forth to you.. I’ve been terminated at my job as of May 1st and rereading your series is really helping to me to relax. Working on training for new career that entails certification so lots of time spent studying. Have lots to learn about human body, muscles, diet, and exercise. Your books sure help to provide diversion. Thanks. (Yeah B&N here, Minnesota, still don’t have the new one available).
by B Taylor · July 4th, 2009 at 10:15 amI finally ordered VIII from Borders. Love the cover on the Wolf Tales 9. Will be working today but we are having a potluck at work with strawberry shortcake so will be fun. Have a great Fourth of July.

by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 10:52 amThanks, Rhonda! When I got it in my email, I had a definite “OHMYGAWD” moment!
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 10:52 amHello!
Checking the blogging out right away!
It’s not so intimidating!
Keep up the excellent writing. An interesting fact, all of my fav authors (you included) seem to talk and interact with their characters! Must be the creative process that makes such engaging books!
Thanks for the Chanku!
by Jessica Miller · July 4th, 2009 at 10:57 amKate, it will come and I will get it one way or another ~grin~. Love them too much not to and the frustration just builds the anticipation higher.
by Sarijane · July 4th, 2009 at 11:03 am@Jessica, I so agree, for some reason the books and series which the author of talks and interacts with her characters are the best. I guess because it makes them more alive to me.
by Sarijane · July 4th, 2009 at 11:07 amHappy Independence Day!
I have to say that I’m sorry you’ll miss out on the parties but I can’t wait for the new books to come out.

by Brenda · July 4th, 2009 at 11:17 amHappy 4th Kate! Love the series, Even if I have to keep the books hidden away from the kiddies.
Reading on lunch and breaks at work takes a little longer, however it also gives me a little longer with the characters
. Keep em coming!
by Nancy Gapp · July 4th, 2009 at 11:21 amHappy 4th of July to you Kate. Love all of your Wolf Tales and Sexy Beast books. Just recently bought Wolf Tales V, VII, And VIII. I’d previously read VI. Keep them coming for a long time to come.
by Pamela S · July 4th, 2009 at 11:26 amGreat blog. It sounds like the storyline is going to take a whole new turn in a different direction with Igmutaka. Wasn’t he a bit cranky when he showed? It should be really interesting to see what he tells you. Enjoy your Holiday even though you will be writing..be sure to make time to relax alittle! take Care… Chris
by christine primavera milone · July 4th, 2009 at 11:28 amHappy 4th Kate hope you have a good one.
The book covers are getting hotter and hotter I can’t wait for your new to come out in Jan. I’ve already pre-ordered mine from my fav. book store. And I’m looking forward to many more to come. I’ve read all your Wolf Tales books and I just finished Wolf Tales VIII. Happy reading to all. Bye

Thanks for sharing them and the stories with us! Looking forward to your latest!
by Fedora · July 4th, 2009 at 11:56 amHappy 4th!!! I love your covers. They are wonderful!
by quiltingreader · July 4th, 2009 at 11:57 amHey Kate, sounds like you’ve been very busy with WT10. 9′s cover is sexy and I too was wondering about the tattoos. All’s good. Kinda reminds me of the back cover burbs. ;< D I'll check to see if the B&N store and Borders have copies of WT8 in my neck of the woods. Well keep on writing/creating. I love what you always come up with. Mo
by Mo · July 4th, 2009 at 11:58 amI hope you have a great Writing 4th!!! Isn’t it cool when all those characters are running around in your head?
Have a good one!
by Claudia · July 4th, 2009 at 12:03 pmHey Kate! Happy 4th of July to you too…the cover does look yummy…I didn’t see WTVIII at Borders in Rhode Island and they usually have one or two of each of your books on the shelf. I guess I will just have to wait until I get it from another source…Keep plugging away because I don’t want you to be distracted by voices in your head or from another plane when you are at RWA…I can’t wait to meet up with you again…happy writing…I am doing some reading this weekened and I may go to a friends house for the festivities…
Kate, I am so gonna miss the Roman Numerals…what did Anton say/do when Igmutaka showed up?
Have a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends everyone…the weather is nice and balmy here…
by Paula R · July 4th, 2009 at 12:09 pmHappy 4th of july. i HOPE YOU have a rip roaring great time.
by sara hurt · July 4th, 2009 at 12:15 pmHi Kate! Happy 4th of July!!
by La Wanda Chery · July 4th, 2009 at 12:33 pmI love the cover art for Wolf Tales “9″…very hot. Glad to see a woman of color on the cover too; especially because there are various characters of color in the series. Really looking forward to seeing where Igmutaka fits into the story this time around, especially as a “androgynous human male.” My mind is becoming anxious already! Just started Wolf Tales VIII & I AM LOVING IT!
Thanks Again,
La Wanda
great covers.
and Happy 4th. Congrats on the latest release.
by Larena Wirum · July 4th, 2009 at 12:35 pmHAPPY 4TH OF JULY KATE & EVERYONE!
by Yari · July 4th, 2009 at 12:36 pmAntone must be shock of Igmutaka being human & just sitting there. (bitting nails) I can’t wait 2 read WT8-10 & more!
HAPPY 4TH KATE! I LOOOVE THE COVER!! YUM!! I THINK THE RETURN OF IGMUTAKA IN THE ANDROGYNOUS FORM HAS MANY INTERESTING POSSIBILITIES!!!
by TAMARA HOLBERT · July 4th, 2009 at 12:37 pmHi Kate!
by Eva S · July 4th, 2009 at 12:41 pmHappy 4th of July to you! Congrats on the release and what a wonderful cover on you new book!
LOL…Jessica, maybe it’s because they’re just so real to us. I have dreams about Anton–not always sexy, just dreams where he talks about what’s going on. Weird!!!
wow…I take a break for my bowl of cheerios and you guys all show up at once!!! Sarijane, I’m so glad you’re patient!!! Thank you.
Yahaira! It’s nice to see you here, and thank you. I think it’s one of my favorites so far.
Thank you, catslady! And you, too, Brenda. Same back atcha!
Nancy, I have to keep the grandkids out of my office! I have all the covers framed on my wall, and they’re not designed for an eight or five year old!
Thanks, Pamela. I’m glad you were able to find the older titles, but don’t forget the Sexy Beast books, since those fit in between in the story arc.
G’morning, Chris. Actually, he was so grateful to the two characters who saved him, he wasn’t all that grumpy at first…but I’ve been writing his scenes this morning and his true colors are starting to show…
Thanks, Josie. Same to you! I didn’t realize #9 was already up for preorder, though I knew SBVII was there–which reminds me. If you’ve read WTVIII and ended up NOT like Beth, I can promise you’ll have a new opinion of her after Chanku Challenge in SBVII!
Thanks, Fedora! I spend way too much time sitting and looking at my gorgeous covers!!!
Thank you, quiltingreader!

Hey Paula! See you in a little over a week–and I’m not telling what Anton said, though he did offer Igmutaka a cup of coffee, since he showed up in time for breakfast…Anton is ALWAYS a good host…
Hi Sara–well, it’ll be as rip-roaring as it can be sitting in my recliner with my laptop in my lap…thanks!
Thank you, La Wanda. I’ve repeatedly asked for “characters of color,” but I get what they give me. I did get an AA model for WTIV, which was great, since it was Tinker’s story. I figure it never hurts to keep asking…and asking…and asking!
My heroine in the second book of the Demon Slayers series, HellFire, is black, but I think those covers are just going to show the men. Will have to wait and see. So glad to hear you’re enjoying WTVIII. Thank you!
Thank you, Larena. And Yari, what’s fun is that they all recognize him when he shows up because he’s still got his cougar personality. I’m having fun with this guy. He was a wonderful surprise when he showed up.
Tamara, I can tell you one interesting thing–Igmutaka is a spirit guide, but he’s not Chanku. He’s never had a human form, so he’s still learning what to do with it. At least among the Chanku there are LOTS of teachers, but he’s got a few hang ups to get over…like sex with another man. We’re working on that right now…
Good morning, Eva, and thank you! Okay, i’ve got to get back to work. Check with you later!
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 1:04 pmHey Shannel–looks like you sort of popped in between my answers. Thank you–and thanks for the comment on the cover!

by ken mcmillan · July 4th, 2009 at 1:08 pmWith the new books, covers, proposed titles (with n w/o Roman numerals) erupting, i have decided 2 reorganize my vampy, chanku, lycanthrope, etc. titles so i can see which ones have moved from one part of the house 2 another AND which ones have migrated to other people’s homes and may need to be replaced for future review. Thanks 4 the chance 2 win your titles, which i consider just another type of Economic Stimulus. yours, Ken McMillan, author of the up-coming Worlds of Autism novels
Happy 4th of July Kate.
That cover is beautiful, can’t wait until it comes out.
I am so addicted to the series that i keep re-reading the books to see if I missed anything.
Have a great day!
by melinda j · July 4th, 2009 at 1:22 pmStaying home on the fourth is not so bad. Our neighbors are shooting off fireworks so we are happy to be home. I am sure you are too.
Sorry to here about your job B. Taylor. I have reciently gone through the same thing once I got my certification I got an even better job. Keep the faith that job will come in for you too!

have been a fan since the beginning when i just happened to look at an intriguing book cover and the tag “THIS IS A REALLY HOT BOOK!” caught my eye.

by ana white · July 4th, 2009 at 2:19 pmHappy 4th. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Wolf Tales VIII. (Wish book clubs shipped faster.)
Cant wait to see what Igmutaka is up to. Glad to hear we’ll get to read his story.
by Kathy · July 4th, 2009 at 2:58 pmGorgeous cover. I’ve given up trying to find your books in the store, the copies always sell out just before I get there. Now I just order and wait for the present in the mailbox.
by Eli · July 4th, 2009 at 3:34 pmHi Kate…
on both of the Wolf covers as usual but I do love the sensuality on both VIII and 9. Wolf VIII is on my TBB list but hadn’t realized it was out already. I’m on it
I don’t know how many ways I can say it (and I have before) but Wolf Tales is one of my all time favorite series. I hope your muse stays forever active.
I’ll take hearing that you’re finishing up Wolf 10 over fireworks any day
Sparklers to you….Nancy
by Nancy Bristow · July 4th, 2009 at 3:54 pmHi Kate, happy release week! We are staying in today too, though we do walk to the fireworks display, which is at a local school. Happy writing this weekend.
by Cathy M · July 4th, 2009 at 3:58 pmUh…Ken? When you get yours organized, do you wanna come to my house? I’ve got piles of books all over the floor, the bookshelves are full and it’s a real mess here…please?
Thank you, Melinda. I occasionally have to reread my own books to make sure I don’t screw up plot threads…I have absolutely the suckiest memory going!
Hope you have an enjoyable 4th, Tyline…I’m hoping none of our neighbors even think of fireworks! The forest is so dry it’s like tinder right now.
Thanks, Laura–they really did outdo themselves on this one.
Thank you, Denice! I really like Jazzy Blue a lot, too. She needs a bigger role in another book, but not sure yet what it’s going to be.
When the series first came out with that disclaimer, “This is a really hot book,” we all laughed about it, but I’m amazed by the number of readers who purchased because of it. thanks for letting me know.
Ana, I loved Matt so much after writing WTVIII that he got his own story in Chanku Spirit, in Sexy Beast VIII. It comes out next spring. thank you!
thanks, Kathy. I haven’t gotten my book club order yet, either. I always order my newest so I have it in hardcover! I got a great ad, t hough, in this month’s Rhapsody Book Club catalog–my whole series on a page and a half. It’s VERY cool!
Good idea, Eli. With the economy so bad, bookstores aren’t ordering nearly as many copies as they used to, so the stock disappears fast. My last book, Sexy Beast VI, ended up going into a second print run just a month after release, but I think it’s because the publisher didn’t print as many on the original run. I hope the book shows up soon.
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 4:00 pmHi Cathy–thanks for coming by! Have a great 4th.
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 4:01 pmNancy, thank you so much for such generous praise! (I’ll take it…writers are such a needy bunch!

I guess there were delays everywhere, to some extent. Although I got WTVIII on my Kindle on time, the print copy from Amazon.com came a day later than promised. What can you do?
Hope you’ve had a Happy Fourth.

Anyway, I love the now cover and can’t wait to get my hands on the book. The whole series is great!
Greetings from Austria,
Edith
I use my Pocket PC to read books on yet yours is a series that I buy in paperback as well. There’s just something so eye catching about seeing all of your books on the shelf ready to read or re-read if I need a Wolf Fix.
Sure wouldn’t mind curling up with one of them, myself… Book or wolf
I’ve had my kitchen and master bathroom remodeled and this weekend is mostly washing and putting everything away. I’m pooped!!
Hope everyone has a great 4th of July and that you don’t eat too much.
by Jan Venters · July 4th, 2009 at 7:13 pmNo problem, Rhonda, and you’re right, but remember, Igmutaka has never been human. He started out as a cougar before he was a spirit guide, so the guy’s bound to have issues!
Thanks, Tatia. I’m hearing of distribution problems from all over the place. I wonder if part of the problem could be that the books are in the back and not unpacked yet–so many bookstores have cut back now and are woefully understaffed. hope you can find a copy–or win one! I’ve got one to give away. I’ll choose a winner tomorrow night.
Akossiwa, you need to do that! I imagine Robbie would let you hang out for a bit and read! You might tell her I gave you permission…
Hi Armenia–will be choosing a winner tomorrow and will post it here–and if we go over 100 people, I’ll choose two. (Invite your friends…
)
thank you, April…and Mina, I think the very first one is my all time favorite, and then next would be Sexy Beast V, WITHOUT the stupid white fog covering his gorgeous butt!
Thanks, Mo! You’re right…covers, blurbs–out of my control! And yes, if you get out to any bookstores, let me know. I’m really curious now, to know if the books are available anywhere.
Phyllis–now YOU are the kind of reader authors love–you’re buying the Kindle AND the print? Wow! I”m speechless!!! (Okay, that’s just about impossible for me, but I’m definitely shocked!
Thanks, Anya, and you have a great fourth, too!
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 7:23 pmIt’s me again – oops, sorry for the typos.
by Edith · July 4th, 2009 at 7:23 pmKate, I forgot to mention that I love the idea of your characters talking to you and I do hope that they’ll keep it up for a long time. …
Edith
Hi Edith! Every time I hear from you it makes me smile…you from Austria and Eve in Finland. Places I’ve never been, but my books are there. You can’t imagine what a thrill that is!!! Thanks so much for stopping by. I love hearing from you.
Jan, thanks so much–love thinking of myself on someone’s keeper shelf! Congrats on the remodel. It’s such a mess when it’s happening, but so wonderful when it’s done, right? I still get excited about our kitchen. It just works–such a concept!!!
And I’m with you–I sort of curl up with my Chanku whenever I write, but imagining a few of them in person…well, let’s just say that the husband would have to learn a little Chanku open-mindedness, or we’d have issues!
Happy 4th, everyone. I’m going back to write a bit more.
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 7:28 pmThanks, Edith. they do talk to me…and visit me when I’m asleep. I swear some of my dreams are so clear and answer so many plot issues that it’s flat out freaky. So far, my publisher seems willing to continue the series. I’m beginning to think of my series as a long-running soap opera!
by KateDouglas · July 4th, 2009 at 7:30 pmHappy 4th of July. Great cover. Congrats on the release. Thanks for the giveaway.
by Emma · July 4th, 2009 at 7:45 pmHi Kate. I love your books and look forward to buying Wolf Tales VIII!! Happy 4th of July!
by Rebecca · July 4th, 2009 at 7:50 pmI am so happy. Cannot wait for the next book in this series. You rock.I love the way you develop your characters. You are the best
by padmae · July 4th, 2009 at 8:49 pmHappy 4th!!
And I have to say that I love the cover for “9″. I think it is my fav one yet. I actually like that they switched to arabic numbers, no doubt it will be less confusing for some readers, but I think it puts less meaning on the roman numerals and focuses more on the cover model…I mean models
I don’t have any tats myself, but I absolutley loooove them on men. Can’t wait to read “8″! Haven’t been able to find a copy locally yet
by Booklover1335 · July 4th, 2009 at 10:07 pmTalk about hot and sexy. I saw the cover of Wolf Tales 9 and went to switch on the AC-ooops! I do not have one.
Keep it up Kate. I am looking forward to read every one of the(m) books.
avis
by Avis · July 4th, 2009 at 10:39 pmWOW fabulous cover. You can almost feel that kiss
by Bernadette Madden · July 4th, 2009 at 11:20 pmHi Emma–thanks for stopping by. You’re more than welcome. I’ll be choosing someone (probably a couple of “someones”) tomorrow.
Rebecca: thank you!
Padmae, sometimes I wonder how much I actually have to do with developing characters. They sort of show up and take over!
Booklover, do hope you can find the book before too long. I’m hearing this way too much from readers! It should be in the stores by now. so glad you like the cover. I can’t quit looking at it!
thanks, Avis. NO AC? Ick…although we rarely turn ours on. Mostly we make do with fans and stuff. It’s SO expensive to run the AC!!
Bernadette, you are so right. There’s a lot of emotion in this cover. You don’t always get that with models. This one is definitely hot!
by KateDouglas · July 5th, 2009 at 12:20 amThank you for wonderful stories, I enjoy the fantasy part of your world, being that we live in a reality world, I use your books to sometime escape it all, you are the best…Keep them coming..
by Elizabeth Falcon · July 5th, 2009 at 12:21 amThanks Elizabeth, and I definitely agree. I much prefer the fantasy world to the real one, which makes it easy to write as many books as I do! Escaping from some of the everyday crap has GOT to be good for us!
by KateDouglas · July 5th, 2009 at 12:31 amthis is why there is a higher power out there, and he gave you a gift that no one will ever have, the gift to make people get away from reality and venture into a world that just might exsist..lol
by Elizabeth Falcon · July 5th, 2009 at 12:33 amLOL…well, I will agree that escaping reality is important to MY mental health, Elizabeth! And who’s to say my Chanku aren’t really out there and I’m NOT actually channeling real shapeshifters?
by KateDouglas · July 5th, 2009 at 1:51 amHappy Belated 4th to you, Kate. Well, it is still the 4th here in paradise. Lol.
I’ve been so busy cooking for today that I’ve only been able to finally sit down and read your blog.
And wow, a new old character. Lol. I wondered if “he” would show up in actual form and the fact that he did in gorgeous male form is very happy event. And yup, love the cover and the tatts. Very yummy!
Okay, I’m beat from all the cooking and eating. Lol.
And after all that grumping and grumbling by Anton, of course, he wouldn’t be phased by new guy.
Keep writing!
Aloha, Jan
by Jan · July 5th, 2009 at 3:54 amHi, Kate:
by Carol · July 5th, 2009 at 7:09 amJust wanted to say the #9 cover is fantastic! I do love the tats. I cannot wait for the delivery of my VIII to come and then this next one….I love these books. Thanks for writing them.
Happy 4th,
Carol
Igmutaka sat down to the breakfast table?
I wish I was at that table on that fine morning.
I do think everyone was polite and carried on as if Igmutaka was just someone dropping in for a meal and this was ordinary occurrence.
Looking forward to reading his story in the future. I hope you write it soon.
Hope you finished all your work yesterday. Maybe you can play a little today?
by Terri M. · July 5th, 2009 at 9:53 amGood morning, Jan. Do hope you had a wonderful 4th, but it sounds like a great one–lots of food and beautiful Hawaii? It doesn’t get any better! I never pictured Igmutaka in human form–I knew he started out as a wild cougar before becoming a spirit guide, so his manifestation as a sexy man came out of the blue. So far, Adam’s the one who’s taken him in hand, so to speak…Igmutaka is a quick learner, but he is NOT Chanku, so there’s a bit of adjusting for him…
Thanks, Carol. I think I’ve found my perfect career, if you want the truth!
Terri, I’m writing a lot of Igmutaka’s story now, but have a feeling he’ll show up in the next book. And I’m actually planning to write all day today, but I can’t imagine doing anything else I’d enjoy more, unless it’s sitting down to read. Have Christine Feehan’s new one, Hidden Currents, Susan Andersen’s Bending the Rules, and Alessa Day’s Atlantis Unmasked–I think I’m saving that one for the flight to DC next week, so it’s a toss up which of the others I’ll be reading as soon as WT10 is done.
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 10:12 am
late again! Happy belated 4th of July!
by Kimberley Coover · July 5th, 2009 at 10:20 amKate, I just love your books. I can’t wait for Wolf Tales 9 ( already have 1-8 on my shelf!).
The new cover is quite pretty. Love the tats, even if they aren’t quite realistic. But the original Wolf Tales is still (and probably always will be) my favorite cover of the series. MMMmmmmm…..
by Ley · July 5th, 2009 at 10:21 amI want number 8!!! but no stores near me seem to have it in–nthe borders nearest me sold out of it!!!
by veanna · July 5th, 2009 at 10:31 amso next day off a hunting I must go
Haven’t seen WT VIII around here yet, been to two Borders in town neither one had it. But I will keep on looking until I get my hot little hands on it for sure. I do love the Chanku, and I think it’s great how they even surprise you.
by Nancy Gilliland · July 5th, 2009 at 10:50 amI hoped everyone had a safe and great 4th. Just got Wolf Tales VIII and love the new cover.
by Niki I · July 5th, 2009 at 11:03 amHappy 4th & 5th!
Kate your books are awsome!
by Jessica · July 5th, 2009 at 12:06 pmHey Kate – Happy 4th! I should be getting your book in the mail Monday I can’t wait. I love the new cover – He Is Hot! Your not the one cursed it is us the readers who have to wait to read your great book!
by Darkreader · July 5th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
That’s OK Kate for being late. Obviously I am late as well! It seems I am always one step behind everyone else. I love the cover as well and the tattoos are hot. I agree about pulling her. I tell you what, you ever plan on doing a plus size girl (lol) I would pose with a half naked man in a heart beat! LOL.
by Danielle · July 5th, 2009 at 12:38 pmthat cover looks crazy hot. so looking forward both new books.
by Kathy · July 5th, 2009 at 12:43 pmOn pins and needles waiting for the new books.
by Valerie · July 5th, 2009 at 1:18 pmAnd a BIG THANK YOU for the African American characters in your books. AA characters are so hard to find in romance novels. AND you stayed away from the stereotypes….thank you, thank you, thank you!
That new cover is so hot and awesome!! Hope you had a wonderful 4th
by T.N Colna · July 5th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
YOU rock gf!!!! I look forward to every book! Keep up the great work! xoxo
by Kim Anaconda · July 5th, 2009 at 2:29 pmKim, I hope you’re getting the Sexy Beast stories to read in between, too! Not everyone realizes they’re very much a part of the series, but so glad you’re enjoying the books!
Thanks, Ley. I agree on all counts! Thanks for stopping by.
Blame the economy, Veanna. Bookstores just aren’t ordering in enough books. I’m sorry–hope you have better luck today.
thanks, Nancy. I think that’s why I enjoy writing the series so much–the stuff that happens that’s unplanned means I’m NEVER bored!
thanks, Niki–it’s great, isn’t it? But I think 9 is even hotter!
Jessica, thank you!
Thanks, Darkreader–and I’m looking at posts and there are over a hundred (I can count mine, too, can’t I?) so I’ll be picking two winners later today and will contact them off list for info and to find out what book they want.
Danielle–one of my heroines, Keisha Rialto, has put on weight since Lily’s birth and Anton loves her even more, so maybe one of these days I’ll get my “plus size” heroine!
thanks, kathy!
What a nice thing to say, Valerie. Thank you…I figure we’re all women with the same basic needs, so if there’s a stereotype, I’m not quite sure what it would have to be. I will tell you, though, that when I first started writing Keisha’s character, I went to my good buddy, author Camille Anthony, for help. After she quit making fun of me (Kate, you write black chicks like a white girl…) she helped me with Keisha’s personality and some of the things that might be important to her. I hope it works. The heroine in HellFire, the second book in my Demon Slayers series is AA. I can’t wait to start work on that book, as soon as WT10 is done.
Thanks, T.N. I did–wrote all day and had a wonderful time!
Thank you, Kim!!
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 2:52 pmDear Kate,
Just wanted to let you know that I have just finished reading WT8 and it was great like 2 stories in one.
My family isn’t to happy but oh well I needed time to myself, so I kicked my son out, gave the 3 dogs each a bone, turned off the phones and put on the stereo and relaxed and started to read. Love it when I can be the boss for a little while. lol
Hope you had a good holiday and take care.
Phyllis
by phyllis wolford · July 5th, 2009 at 4:36 pmHappy 4th of July. Sorry you’re working through the weekend.
Marilynne
by Marilynne · July 5th, 2009 at 4:51 pmPhyllis, why is it that, as women, we so often feel guilty taking time to ourselves? I know that my husband has always been able to sit with a book and enjoy himself, but I have to wait until late at night to read when I’m too tired to do anything else, as if there’s something more important I should be doing rather than taking time for me. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the book–I’m trying really hard to learn to take time just for me without guilt!!! It ain’t easy overcoming a lifetime of conditioning!!!
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Don’t be, Marilynne! There’s nothing I’d rather be doing. Still trying to figure out how WT10 is going to end. Lots going on and it doesn’t make sense to me yet, but it will!
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 5:01 pmHi Kate,
by Michelle · July 5th, 2009 at 5:26 pmI’m so in love with the new characters in the story line. My girlfreinds especially love how you use people of all ethnic backgrounds( most of us are in interracial relationships) and we can indentify with your characters. Have a great 4th of July !!!!
Kate…I hate that you had to miss out on the parties…but I am glad to hear the writing is coming along very well! sorry to be so selfish. and I’m with you on the cover….that man is HAWT!!!!!!!
by Melissa Eskew · July 5th, 2009 at 5:34 pmA little late but Happy Fourth to you!!
by Bea · July 5th, 2009 at 5:42 pmThank you Michelle–it really makes me feel good to hear from readers who actually think I’m getting it right! I do try…and I love having a multi-ethnic group because they’re really all the same under the skin–they are all Chanku, which creates a stronger bond than anything else.
Not selfish at all, Melissa, and last night my husband and I did get out and walk around the block, and we stopped by the neighbors’ and said hi to everyone at the party, which was about all I could take before I had to get back and see what my characters were up to!
I’m not kidding when I say that I really prefer my fantasy world to the real one!
LOL…not late at all, Bea. I’m still here! Thank you. Hope you’ve had a great weekend.
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 5:50 pmKate, they didn’t have Wolf Tales VIII at my B&N here in Florida and when I asked about it they couldn’t find it in their computers. That bummed me a bit, but I figured I’d find it some time soon. LOL!
The cover for Wolf Tales 9 is gorgeous! Of course all of your covers are. The never fail to draw me in.
by Dani K · July 5th, 2009 at 7:04 pmThanks for letting me know, Dani. This really sucks! It means it’s probably not in ANY Barnes & Noble stores, but I’m letting my editor know. I really appreciate your info–good luck!
by Kate Douglas · July 5th, 2009 at 8:01 pmHappy 4th …. a little late!!
It was raining last night so I didn’t go to see any fireworks.
by Amelia · July 5th, 2009 at 8:56 pmI’m sorry, Amelia! What a bummer! It was hot here, but no fireworks (thank goodness!) in our dry mountains! A couple of idiots shot off guns around midnight, but that was all the excitement we got…
Thanks for checking in!
by Kate Douglas · July 6th, 2009 at 12:00 amWe’ve got winners!
