I just realized two things–it’s my day to blog, and I’m supposed to head to town in about an hour for an appointment! So, m’dears, I’m going to make this one short and sweet and just let you know that Wolf Tales 9 is out. I’m already hearing from the world’s most terrific readers who have bought and read the book and would definitely give it more than the two star review it got from Romantic Times! I’ve been thrilled to hear from those of you who’ve taken the time to send an email or leave a comment on my Facebook page, because, as you know, this one is really dear to my heart.
A year ago, when I was getting ready to write the book, I polled my newsletter readers and asked which characters they would like to know more about. I already knew this would be the book where all my Chanku gathered while they awaited the birth of Tia and Luc’s first baby, and I figured it would be a perfect opportunity for them to talk about themselves and how they discovered their Chanku heritage.
I was amazed by the number of you who took the time to write and tell me who you wanted to know more about. Mik and AJ were the obvious winners, but there were requests for background on Luc Stone and Jacob Trent, on Oliver and Anton’s early years and also on a number of others. They are all in the book, and the response from readers has been even better than I’d hoped.
If you haven’t yet read Wolf Tales 9, I encourage you to take a look. Because of the backstory, if you’re not into the series at all, it might be a good place to start, to give you an idea whether or not you want to get into the lives and loves of my Chanku shapeshifters.
Now I need to head out–but I’m going to make this a one day only contest to win a copy of Wolf Tales 9–or any other of the newer books in the series. (I’m out of the earliest ones) The winner will be chosen from one of the comments.
My question is a little off topic–have you ever hesitated to start a series because you’re afraid you’re really going to like it, and just don’t want to make the commitment? I’m that way! I have never gotten into Laurel K. Hamilton’s books because I just know I’m going to get hooked! There are a couple of other wonderful authors out there as well, and as much as I want to read their books, I know I just don’t have the time to give them the attention they’re due. I know…pretty dumb, right? So, am I the only one with this stupid hang up?
Take care, all, and have a great day and a wonderful New Year!

I have just received the book today in the mail, am so looking forward to getting into your series. I am so sure I will be ordering back copies of previous titles.
by Jayne · January 4th, 2010 at 11:08 amThank you for your writing

Morning Kate.
I love reading series. I’d much rather read a series of books than the stand alone ones. I enjoy how they’re linked together. Either by love, action or drama. I totally get absorbed in whatever world is created. I haven’t had the issue of not liking a story later on down the line in any series yet. Some turned out not like I’d have expected but it was still great to read.
by Hales · January 4th, 2010 at 11:12 amHey Kate,
by Yahaira H. · January 4th, 2010 at 11:19 amI love your books. Wolf tales 9 is already coming my way from Amazon. I can’t wait to read it. Hope you’re feeling better. Have a great day.
I actually just discovered the Chanku series recently. Finished Wolf Tales I and LOVED it. Wolf Tales II is on the way!
It’s great when I can find a series that I enjoy and then discover there’s lots of books already written. Series are much better than standalones, IMO.
by PA Mom · January 4th, 2010 at 11:22 amHey Kate, Happy New Year! I’m so glad for the good reviews you’ve been getting! I haven’t read #9 yet, but I’m sure RT got it wrong this time!
While I can understand your reluctance to get into a series with a lot of books, I don’t share it.
And you’re right, you will love the LKH books. But I’ve only read the first eight in the last two years. Same with Kelley Armstrong, who I adore. I’d hate to see you miss out on some awesome authors cause of that concern
Indeed, if I shared it, I’d never have started Wolf Tales, since there are almost 20 of them already with the Sexy Beast stories, right?
(I’m only on WT 2 – haven’t started the SB’s yet, so if I’m wrong, sorry!).
Hope things went well in town!
by Bella · January 4th, 2010 at 11:24 amI love reading series but I have refused to read a book from a series until most of the books are out if that writer only puts out one book or so a year. I am always afraid I will be left hanging because they won’t finish the series. I have had that happen a couple of times and I HATE it.
by Chris Roberts · January 4th, 2010 at 11:25 amI love reading series, but I do hesitate to start a long running series due to the cost involved in getting all the back books in the series. I almost always read the series in order and it can take awhile to get some of the longer series.
by Lisa Guertin · January 4th, 2010 at 11:30 amI don’t mind reading books out of order, so if I stumble upon a series that I like, part of the fun is trying to track down the first few books. I grabbed one of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books one night on my way home from work and loved it so much that I immediately had to read the first ones. It took me awhile but it was SO worth it!
by Cheryl McInnis · January 4th, 2010 at 11:38 amCongrats on the release of Wolf Tales 9, Kate! I’m super excited to read this one
I do hesitate sometimes, not only series, but a new author that I know I am going to like AND have to read all of their books. I can give you an example, I love vampire books and I did not get into Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Series because I knew I would be hooked. I do have an outlet, two of my granddaughters have everyone of them, and I can always go get their’s and read them. I am sure one day I will
Wolf Tales 9 looks fantastic also!! I have not read Wolf Tales 8 yet, I am running behind on some of my reading, but I will catch up!!
by Judy Cox · January 4th, 2010 at 11:46 amI usually don’t pick up series book until the series is done. Case in point is Jean M Auel’s Earth’s Children. It started with Clan of the Cave Bear (or something like that) and was great. Waited years for books 2-3 to roll around. By time 4th came out, I didn’t care, didn’t buy and didn’t read. If the 5th came out, I don’t know. Wouldn’t go back today and get it, either. Just totally lost interest in the characters and world . So I won’t start a fictional series unless it’s very long running or the cycle/story is done.
by Devyn Quinn · January 4th, 2010 at 11:51 amI’ve never had that issue, I’ve actually had the opposite. Meaning, I will hear about an established series, get hooked on the premise, buy all the books, and then struggle to get through the first one.
by Elaine R · January 4th, 2010 at 11:56 amHappy New Year Kate !!
by Melanie Ditro · January 4th, 2010 at 12:02 pmI am so looking forward to reading Wolf Tales 9. I have read every one of your books. My favorite thing is being able to sit and imagine being there with them. When you read your stories they way you tell them, it is so easy to do. I wanted to take WT9 with me on my crusie i just took to Jamica, but it wasn’t out. Now that I am back home with the kids and taking care of my grandmom, I will have to run out when I get a sec and buy it. Congrats on WT9. Looking forward to the next one…..
Kate, I finished WT9 last night (got a late start due to an out-of-town family reunion/wedding on Thurs) and boy, did RT get it wrong!! It was sooo great to finally hear how things started. Don’t ever listen to the reviewers,(or at least the negative ones).
Sometimes I think twice about starting a series if it’s not finished, but if we did that with WT, we’d never start. I do agree with Devyn about some books taking so long to come out you lose interest (Charlaine Harris and Sookie come to mind) but usually I can wait it out (Lynsay Sands and the Argeneau clan comes to mind along with WT).
by Phyllis Butcher · January 4th, 2010 at 12:07 pmWe love you, Kate! A two my butt!
by Mel K. · January 4th, 2010 at 12:14 pmI hesitate because I feel like I’ll love the books, read them, and then be bummed that they are over or I have to wait for the next one.
You know I’ve got stupid hang ups. Period.
Kate I’ve felt the same way about a few series that have been around a while and that I didn’t get in on in their first few volumes. It really is daunting to enter into a series when you know there are 10 or more books after the fist one with time commitment issues as well as monetary issues. But I’ll get to them someday.
Kate congrats on Wolf tales 9!
by Sue A. · January 4th, 2010 at 12:21 pmHmm, well I just loved Wolf Tales 9. I would have to say it’s one of my favorites.
On the questions of series. I like to start a series when it’s almost finished or I know that there will be several out in a year. I don’t like to be left hanging knowing it may take another year or so before I get to the answers needed. And there is the fact that I read really fast.
I have started several new series this year for several that I had read have ended so I guess it just depends on what the series has to offer me.
Love and hugs,
by Tracey · January 4th, 2010 at 12:23 pmTracey
I love the Wolf Tales. The only ones I don’t have yeat are Wild Night and Wolf Tales 9. As soon as I get to the books store(probably later this week) I’ll get 9.
by Beth · January 4th, 2010 at 12:35 pmAs to series, if it’s a series just getting started I have no problem with reading it. If it’s a long established on I hesitate to start it til I know that I can get all of them. The worst thing is if you find a series to like but are unable to get a copy of all of the already released books. Happened to me with Feehan’s Carpathians. Read Dark Secret when it came out, and dicovered it was a series and spent the next year trying to find all the earlier ones as not all were still available at the books store at the time.
Hi Kate,
by Jennifer Cochran · January 4th, 2010 at 12:37 pmI myself am the same way when it comes to a new series. I was that way about starting Wolf Tales because I knew I would want all of them. My husband got me 1-8 for Christmas so I would love to win a copy of book 9. I have recently become a fan of Twitter and meeting other paranormal romance fans lot of them have been recommending the LKH series. She also has tons of books so maybe I will tell my husband to get some for my birthday. Happy New Year!!
You are so not alone! I can’t get into Diana Gabaldon’s series because they look like they require too much time and would be too emotionally draining. Completely foolish I know!
by Erica P · January 4th, 2010 at 12:44 pmMy copy of WT 9 downloaded itself onto my Kindle while I slept in the wee hours of Jan 1st. Now I have to find a few moments to start reading it…because once I start I won’t put it down until I am done! LOL
Hope you are feeling much better…
by Barbara Hansen · January 4th, 2010 at 12:55 pmI Love series! Yes they take alot of time and dedication. But I find that I am thinking about them in between and since I am usually working on one series at a time I can usually get to several books that are out before I get up to date and have to wait for another!
On another note! Love your Books! Can’t wait to get to the WT9! it just got moved on top of the tbr pile!
Have an awesome day! ~Julie
by Julie Kiesow · January 4th, 2010 at 1:08 pmI look forward to a new series because it’s like starting fresh with a different world the author makes for you.
Hope your appointment goes well and have a great day,

by Janice Robert · January 4th, 2010 at 1:15 pmYes I have done this. I did this with the Twilight series because I new it would take so long to read and wasn’t sure I would enjoy it. I was wrong, I got hooked on the first book and enjoyed them all!
by Quilt Lady · January 4th, 2010 at 1:32 pmAt first i thought, “NO, i havent ever hesitated to start a series.” After all, the internet tells me which book to read next, so i am not likely to get lost.” But, after lengthy thought, i realized that John Sanford, the author of the Lucas Davenport detective novels, has begun a series using a former minor character named Flowers. I have chosen not to get hooked on that series because i am still playing catch-up with several other series. So, the final answer is, YES, indeed, i have chosen not to start a series. Yours, ken mcmillan, author of the upcoming Worlds of Autism trilogy of novels
by ken mcmillan · January 4th, 2010 at 1:38 pmI know what you mean. I haven’t started Laurel K. Hamilton’s series either because I am afraid I would not be able to find some of the earilier ones.
I would love to win a copy of Wolf Tales

Wow, Kate,
it took ages to get in here!!!
Anyways, yes, I do shy away from starting series incase I have a big backlist to catch up on. I do have a couple of series on my shelf that I haven’t started yet, including Laurel K Hamilton’s. I have another one I haven’t started because the books are sooooo big!!
That said, I have a Hamilton’s that I HAVE to read for review and I am sure I will then have to attack that backlist….phew!!!

by Cherrie Gamble · January 4th, 2010 at 2:12 pmI am one of those who shop online and I am waiting impatiently on my WT9 to come. Again I love the series and can not wait to get this book. I am the opposite of you. I love getting onto new series and perfer series to stand alone books. My thing is I want the current series to go on forever and am hesitante about starting a new series by a author I love. I guess it is because I am afraid the new will not be as good as the old….go figure. By the way…you will get hooked on Laurell Hamiltons books. I have bought and read all Anita Blake series. I have bought all the Merry Gentry ones but I have not been able to get started on them…crazy huh. Have a great day!
I must say the WOLF TALES series takes the cake.I love wolves and these series just take my love for the beautiful creatures one step further,And I have only read the first of the series.Anxious to get the rest.I have alot of catching up to do.You must be doing something right or you wouldnt have so many die hard fans!!!Keep up the great work and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I have been following since the begining and I’m on my way to pick my copy of Wolf Tales 9. can’t wait to read it. by the way great cover.
by josephine bercegeay · January 4th, 2010 at 2:57 pmI have loved all the series of Chanku books and can’t wait to read WT9. Unfortunately, I have to wait until the end of the week for it to be posted by Amazon (UK).
by Sara · January 4th, 2010 at 3:08 pmHi Kate
I love a connected series as long as each book is complete it itself, i.e. h/h find their HEA. Then I love reading the following books when characters I already know are revisited and secondary characters I’ve met in the first book find their HEA. If the book leaves me hanging at the end with an obvious “you have to buy the next book for closure”, I’m turned off and out
If I like an author’s voice, I’m a loyal reader…I don’t need a prod of any kind. I’ll even stick if there’s one or two books in the series that isn’t quite up to par since none of us will bat 100% all the time. But, if there’s no improvement, then I’m gone.
As to your question, “…have you ever hesitated to start a series because you’re afraid you’re really going to like it, and just don’t want to make the commitment?” The answer is yes. In order for me to even consider starting a new series, it has to be one that knocks my socks off. I’m already involved with a large number of series plus just authors that I love and follow. Like everyone, I only have so much time and money…even reading a book a day.
Meanwhile, Wolf Tales 9 is on it’s way from Amazon
Later Kate….Nancy
by Nancy Bristow · January 4th, 2010 at 3:12 pmI have been hesitant to start a new series because right now I am opposed with 4 and I am not sure if I can give the right amount of “commitment” to another one!
I, of course, love Wolf Tales, as well as I am anxiously await the next installments in 2 Christine Feehan series – Dark Series and Ghostwalker series. Plus, when I need something a little light, I dig into Janet Evanovich’s By the Numbers. With 4 great series…how could I possibly start another!? I mean…I do have to work still!
I haven’t read Wolf Tales 9 but as soon as I can get a copy in my grubby little hands I will! I’m sure it will be as breathtaking as the ones before it! Keep up the WONDERFUL work!
by Beatrice Poole · January 4th, 2010 at 3:17 pmIf you have not yet gotten the wolf tales and sexy beast series go now and get it. I have the whole series and Kate is my favorite aurthor. Once i started i couldn’t put them down.
I love it its the best.
by Christine Roman · January 4th, 2010 at 3:31 pmHi Kate,
I understand exactly how you feel. I have put off reading Kelley Armstrong and JR Ward for that very reason. I have been reading your Chanku series for years (way back when they were ebook stories). I absolutely love them. Keep up the good work. Have fun and have a prosperous new year.
by Valencia · January 4th, 2010 at 3:41 pmI’m a series ho. Love them. However, I haven’t started JE’s Stephanie Plum series because there are 15 books–yikes! My sister sent me the first 10 for Christmas so when I get some time (yeah, right!) I’m ready!
by Anitra Lynn McLeod · January 4th, 2010 at 3:42 pmYes, I have, Kate–yours is one of them, but not because I don’t plan to some day. I tend to want to be able to acquire nearly the whole thing in one fell swoop if I like the first, so I tend to hang back initially and wait until the series looks like it’s drawing to a lovely close. Then I can gorge myself on the whole thing! Uh, that sounds pretty neurotic, doesn’t it?
by Fedora · January 4th, 2010 at 4:05 pmI’ve hesitated on JD Robb’s death series. I can’t seem to wait between stories when it comes to series. I gather a few then read so the story and characters remain fresh. Otherwise, I find myself going back to the last book to refresh my memory.
by Armenia · January 4th, 2010 at 4:06 pmHappy New Year Kate, gorgeous cover!
by Eva S · January 4th, 2010 at 4:24 pmI love series, but sometimes when I find an interesting looking one with 10 books or more I do hesitate before I start. But usually I give it a try, it is wonderful to find a new great author and when you love the first book you know there will be many, many more!
Hi, Kate! Happy New Year! Congratulations on #9!!!
by Virginia C · January 4th, 2010 at 4:26 pmWhen I know that the writing is good and the story line is interesting, then I will start reading a series. If the characters are fully developed, then I fall in love with them and want to continue to follow their adventures : )
I love reading a great series, and have quite a list of them as auto-buys. The only time I hesitate is when I hear that the author is fond of cliff hangers, with 12 months of wait time in between stories. Those I have no patience for and tend to pass by. Or if I hear a great buzz about the series, will wait until they all get published, so I can read them back to back.
by Cathy M · January 4th, 2010 at 4:50 pmI have quite a rather towering tbr pile. However, I don’t share that particular hang-up of yours. Frankly, the more books and series to love, the merrier. Besides, I love to read different styles and genres of books so I sometimes enjoy a “break” from something with the intent to continue thereafter.
by Little Lamb Lost · January 4th, 2010 at 5:08 pmKate I love to read books that are series. I also haven’t read any of Laurel Hamiltons Anita Blake books. I do have some of the Merry Gentry books. I do love reading J R Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I have been reading Jude Deveraux books lately on the Montgomery Series. I also love reading your Wolf Tales books. I have been reading them in order and still don’t have all of them. Just love your writing.
by Loretta W. · January 4th, 2010 at 5:20 pmHi, Kate–Happy New Year!
by PJ Mellor · January 4th, 2010 at 5:51 pmI love the idea of a series, but I rarely get to read them anymore. I still buy them and carefully arrange them in order TBR on my groaning bookshelves…then usually don’t get back to them, sometimes for years.
I want to read Wolf Tales 9! Maybe then I’ll know everyone and what’s going on when I go back to read the others.
Have a great new year!
I have to agree with you Kate. Even though I’ve had so many people including you recommend J.R. Ward’s books I have not opened one of them. I already have a list of author’s (about 12-15) that I like to read EVERYTHING they publish. I even have a list I’ve created on excel to keep me on top of these authors and the minute I see a new book announced it goes on my WANT LIST along with the publication date. Then when I get extra money or Amazon gift cards I go to the list and choose what to buy. Once I purchase or pre-order a book then it gets moved to my HAVE LIST. Believe it or not I created this list because I couldn’t remember if or when or from what website I ordered and I ended up with three copies of the same book. If I had to add another author to this list I think I would confuse excel never mind myself. I’m happy with my list as it is thank you very much!!!! LOL
by Suzanne · January 4th, 2010 at 6:02 pmI have already told you how much I love these stories. I get antsy waiting for the next one. It does not help when you read it in a day, my friends say I need an intervention. I will continue to look forward to the next one in line because you have also turned me on to other great authors. Thank you and take care in the new year.

by Nancy Gilliland · January 4th, 2010 at 8:44 pmHi Kate,
You know how much I love your Wolf Tales books. I can’t wait to read Wolf Tales 9 – I’m just waiting for it to arrive in the mail from the book seller.
by Marie Tuhart · January 4th, 2010 at 8:47 pmOh my gosh, if I held back, I would so not have half the books on my shelf.
I love series books but the first one or two has to grab me or I don’t put the author on my “remember list” which I haul with me to the bookstore.
What saddens me is when a series no longer interests me because I generally fall for the whole universe they inhabit.
Thankfully, it has not happened with Wolf Tales, Sexy Beast and can’t wait for Demonfire in March. Whoo hooo!!!
So write on, Kate!
And you know, don’t need to put me in the contest for book.
I already am lucky to have my own… my very own precious.
by Jay · January 4th, 2010 at 9:02 pmKate , I don’t start a series for 2 reasons 1/ I keep them tbr because I know I’ll devour them and want to hold on to the anticipation or 2/ I don’t want to read them til I have the complete series- I hate holes in series…I have all of your books that I can get my hands on, but am missing SB I and II and Wolf Tales 3, 7, 8 and now 9. I even bought Wolf Tales 2 in microsoft format, since it wasn’t offered in pdb/prc/or pdf…but can’t get the ms reader to work for me
. I guess I’ll have to break down and get them in paperback so I can read them all. I’m feeling a little deprived as I loved the ones I’ve read.
by Mary Jo · January 4th, 2010 at 10:40 pmNope. If I find an Author I love…I want ALL they have. The more the merrier.
Now I will say this… on occasion I’ve run into a few series that were best NOT read back to back.
I’m NOT crazy about the (2) parters. Not a bit. I’ve only run into one so far…but it left off in the middle of a very intense scene and then that was it.
Until the next book. I still haven’t bought it.

Anyway, I’m going to wait and choose my winners (yes, winners, plural–I’ll pick at least two) tomorrow when I’m not so tired, but I’ve just read through every post and can’t stop grinning!
I’m thrilled to hear from those of you who’ve read WT9 and like it. Thank you so much for letting me know! Also, glad to hear that the post cards are beginning to arrive. I want you to know that my dear spouse put the stamps and address labels on every single one–and there were a bunch! It took him a whole week. He just informed me that you should all be very impressed that he was willing to suffer so much for me…
If you’re not on my mailing list and want me to send a card to you, email me at kate@katedouglas.com with your mailing address.
Interesting comments on series reading–a lot of you mentioned JR Ward. I had the first four books and could not bring myself to start them until author Robyn Carr told me I was being a ninny…so I read the first one, and the second, and when I ran out of books I bought the others that were out there and didn’t get a single word WRITTEN for a week! I KNEW that was going to happen, and i can’t wait for the next one to come out in April…of course, I’m just as hooked on Robyn’s Virgin River series, and picked up her newest, Forbidden Falls, just today. AND, I just read Jayne Ann Krentz’s newest novel in her Arcane Series, Fired Up, and it’s wonderful. Also have Christine Feehan’s new book, Street Game, sitting on the shelf beside me, so that should give you an idea why I hesitate to start too many new ones!
Anyway, I’m beat and I’m going to get off this computer and go read for awhile. I’ll check back tomorrow and will choose the winners then. I’ll email you privately to see what book you’d like for me to send.
Thanks again for all the great comments. I was shocked to get home and see sixty! Wow…
by KateDouglas · January 4th, 2010 at 11:39 pmYES! There are actually several authors Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan to name just a few. I hear so many good things about their books, but their backlist in some of the series is so daunting.
There are so many series that I am already reading that this would be a huge time commitment so I have been putting it off. It’s a very interesting question, and one I never really thought about, but I guess author should be aware of.
Congrats on the newest Wolf Tales…they of course always go to the top of the TBR.
by Booklover1335 · January 5th, 2010 at 8:38 amHey Kate,
Glad you are starting to feel better. I spent the day yesterday in town between my granddaugher and daughter’s Dr. visits so I didn’t see this until this morning (when it showed up in Yahoo – late).
When I got home yesterday I had a great surprise waiting for me, not only had my EC order came but my copy of Wolf Tales 9 from Rhapsody was sitting there waiting on me.
As far as your question goes, I have read all of the books in the series by LKH, JR, Sherrilyn, & Christine Feehan. I also have read just about everything that Lora Leigh writes. I love her stuff and she has a huge back list of books.
I am sitting on Keri Arthur, Lara Adrian, Michele Bardsley, House of Night series, and many other series because I just can’t get to them. I love reading a series in order but them I hate that once you finish it you have to wait another year for the next book to come out (John Matthews book – am dying for it). it is nice to read them in order though because them you are not as likely to forget something that happened. I have so many books in my TBR pile that I don’t know if I will ever get to them all and yet, I still keep buying more (heading to B&N at lunch).
by Heather Brewer · January 5th, 2010 at 12:17 pmGot my winners–I picked three, and you’ll need to get back to me asap and let me know what book in the series you want, and it will have to be something from WTIV on, as I’m out of the earliest titles. So, Davina #46, Quilt Lady #23, and Bella #5, please contact me asap at kate@katedouglas.com so I know what books to send to you.
Thanks everyone for stopping by, and for all your very generous and kind words. It really makes me feel so good to know how many of you are enjoying the stories I write. Now I need to get to work on Wolf Tales 11. Just started the book this morning! (FINALLY!!!
)
by Kate Douglas · January 5th, 2010 at 12:40 pmHiya Kate,
I can’t tell you how excited I am to read 9. I started off completely wrong, I starting read Sexy Beast when I found out about Wolf Tales. I was already smitten with the characters and wanted more, I was HOOKED! I enjoy these and I own all of them! I can not really pick a favorite pack, I love them all! But, I cried like a baby at Wolf Tales 7, what happened to the uber alpha and his little darling had me in serious tissue mode! I think today I will re-read 8, I am hoping 9 will arrive today. I love the story lines and how you continue to move forward with their lives. I love the Chanku, they are a thrilling race are they not! Thank you for all you do!
Looking forward to many many more reads from you!
by Patsy · January 5th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
I must say that I haven’t been reluctant to start a new series as of today anyway. LOL.
by Earlene · January 5th, 2010 at 3:12 pmI am hooked on Laurell K. Hamilton, JD Robb, Christine Feehan to name a few. I am such a voracious reader that it doesn’t bother me to get hooked on other series coming out.
I love to start a new series. I don’t know about anybody else, but many times I will start with a book other than the first. Maybe it’s the one on the shelf that I liked the tag line, or blurb or cover, or all of it. Then, I have to get the rest of the series and start reading from the first. The only part of a series I don’t like is waiting for the new one to come out. I get so impatient.
by Janet H · January 5th, 2010 at 6:08 pmWT 9 was awesome and now I can’t wait for the next story to come out!!
by darkreader · January 5th, 2010 at 6:17 pmI am currently reading Bold Journey from your StarQuest 2 book. Are you planning on writing anymore of this series??
I received the postcard today and am so looking forward to Demonfire.
I now have all your written books and just wanted to drop you a line letting you know how much I enjoy your work. I am a huge fan!!
Thank you–and Darkreader, there is one more story to the StarQuest series that’s not in print but available as a short story download from Ellora’s Cave. It’s called Best Friends Forever, and sort of ties up a lot of the series with the relationship between Kefira and Tad, Sander and Mara’s daughter, and the son of the World Federation president as adults.
by Kate Douglas · January 5th, 2010 at 6:47 pmthanks Kate – I added it to my wishlist!
by darkreader · January 5th, 2010 at 6:56 pmI’m a few chapter into WT 9 and enjoying it! I like reading everyone’s background.
by Amelia · January 5th, 2010 at 8:30 pmOh I am so jealous, how much patience must I practice waiting on WT9? I was disappointed when I didn’t get my parcel today! Good thing I picked up again, or I would have been lead to cause havoc here at home LOL
by Patsy · January 5th, 2010 at 10:00 pmJust had email from Amazon – have to wait even longer now!
You’re all so lucky to already have yours
by Sara · January 6th, 2010 at 10:26 amI have never read this series but will have to based on the others comments.
by Kelly · January 6th, 2010 at 1:20 pmHi, Kate. So glad you’re feeling better. Being sick, as we all know, is no fun! I was backed up on email and just saw this today. To answer your question, I’m never afraid to start a series. I simply love the written word, and while I’m only in my twenties, I’m sure I’ve read a couple thousand of books.
I am incapable of going without reading; I read or, as is often the case, reread a book every day, and sometimes more than one. What happens to me is I sometimes read something that’s part of a series and don’t know it; then I forget about it but stumble across that author again; or I just dive in and find a new world I love. I used to have trouble keeping track of authors, but now I keep a master list and regularly troll for their new books. I use the library a lot, but ebay more. I love stretching my book budget further, plus I save paper by buying used!
by Cynthia · January 6th, 2010 at 4:33 pmCynthia, the same thing happens with me sometimes. I’ve also noticed that a number of you have mentioned keeping a master list of books–I should probably try that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a book and then discovered I already have a copy at home!
Sara, what’s the hold up with Amazon? That book should have been in the mail by the 29th!
Sorry to be so late–and brief!–on replies, but I’m back at work, writing Wolf Tales 11 with a February deadline and won’t be online nearly as much as I usually am.
DAVINA JORDAN? I have not heard from you yet.
You’re one of my winners and I need an address and a title so I know what book to send to you!!!
by Kate Douglas · January 7th, 2010 at 8:47 amHi Kate
by Jennifer Cochran · January 7th, 2010 at 12:35 pmI will claim Davina’s book if she doesn’t respond. Lol.
Jennifer
Kate…I don’t know what the hold up is with Amazon
My copy of Wolf Tales 9 and Robyn Carr’s Forbidden Falls arrived yesterday (Fairfax, VA). They were both preordered. It makes no sense. I saw Carr’s new one at B&N five days ago so that was not the hold-up. I’ve always been curious as to why new releases hit the bookstores a week or so before preorders are shipped:roll: Anyway, I’ll start reading it today
by Nancy Bristow · January 7th, 2010 at 5:17 pmI finally finished WT9……………….
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
more, more, more, more!!!!!!
by Patsy · January 7th, 2010 at 10:46 pmWow!
Thank you, Patsy!
by Kate Douglas · January 9th, 2010 at 1:19 amEmail from Amazon –
“We regret to inform you that the following items have been delayed as we are still awaiting stock from our suppliers :
Kate Douglas “Wolf Tales IX: 9″
Estimated arrival date: January 19 2010 – January 27 2010″
Don’t worry Kate, I am trying to be patient! LOL
by Sara · January 11th, 2010 at 11:47 amPoor Sara, I do know how you feel! I was livid when mine was almost a week late! Once you get it, you won’t want to put it down. Now if we could just get Kate to write faster! (LOL Just Kidding) I know I speak for many as well as myself “WE WANT MORE” LOL….
I see that on the left of the screen there are some other books shown, I have a few of them, Lydia Parks and Shelli Steven have some good ones! I so want “On the Prowl” Their not our fav Chanku! but they are good reads! Even though I’d read WT’s and SB 24/7 if I could!
by Patsy · January 11th, 2010 at 7:13 pmI checked with my editor who got in touch with the person handling the Amazon account for Kensington, and according to them, Amazon has plenty of copies! I don’t know why it’s taking so long to get them to you!
by Kate Douglas · January 11th, 2010 at 7:19 pmI finally received my book on Saturday and spent most of the day reading it. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait for book 10. Quick question – is what happened to Camille’s sister in any of the books? I can’t remember
by Sara · January 18th, 2010 at 2:05 pmSara, Camille’s sister is Keisha’s mother and no, she’s not really in the series other than as she relates to Keisha. I think her death is explained in Sexy Beast
by Kate Douglas · January 18th, 2010 at 2:40 pm/Chanku Rising, and she’s alluded to briefly in a couple of other stories, but she really isn’t part of the series and won’t be. Since she never mated with another Chanku, that wasn’t as big a part of her life as it is for the others in the story line, but thanks for asking!
Wow Sara sure took a long time to get your book! I KNOW I KNOW about Keisha’s mom, but you gotta read the books! LOL LOL I ain’t givin it away LOL
