Here it is January 6 and I’m already watching the clock. Not the time per se…but the time when the sun sets. I’m so ready for the days to get longer! Strolling after dinner in daylight is so much more pleasant than wandering around in the dark. Our neighborhood has ditches and no sidewalks or curbs. It’s very easy to twist an ankle.
My poodle pup leaped (they leap like deer!) Into a ditch a few weeks ago and nearly pulled me off my feet. He’s now getting used to a harness type lead that means he pulls against his own weight.
We’ll take him to training sessions in the coming weeks…but in the meantime…I’m watching the sky for hints of longer days.
Seriously, I start watching as early as this. Pfft! In another two weeks I’ll be telling myself I’m seeing a real difference! Whether it’s true or not. I lie to myself on a regular basis, so what’s one more?
I’m pleased to say that I’ve now got excerpts posted on my site for my newest release, BREATHLESS. One excerpt for each novella, so go have fun and get a little breathless. www.bonnieedwards.com
I’ve also posted my cover for my upcoming Harlequin Blaze, Possessing Morgan as well. I’m getting seriously excited about the release of that one, too. As I get nearer to release day I’ll send out a reminder in my newsletter.
In the meantime, I’ll be watching the sky and counting off those extra minutes of sun.
Happy 2010 to everyone and just so you know, this year I’ve got a couple of goals (I don’t like resolutions because they can be pie-in-the-sky stuff.) One is to keep my website updated more often, and to actually send out newsletters on occasion. OH, yeah, and to lose a little weight, use the treadmill more, laugh more often, and love a lot.
If you can think of any more for me, let me know!

Did you say something about newsletters??
I just love Jackson. He’s so cute.
We have no lights or sidewalks either, and deep ditches so I don’t dare walk my dogs after 5pm.
I too can’t wait for the days to get longer. I hate seeing 6:30pm on the clock and yet, feeling like it’s 10:30 because it’s already dark out. And I really need to get myself a natural spectrum light because I’m so depressed in the dark. And that affects everything I do. *sigh*
In the meantime, I’ll get on my treadmill too. I need the exercise.
by nightsmusic · January 6th, 2010 at 10:39 amLike you, I don’t do resolutions. They never last. Goals, however, work well for me.
And I can’t wait for longer days. I’m so tired of my feet being cold and getting up in the dark . . . I could turn on a light but I’d rather have sunlight.
Jackson’s a cutiepie!
by Anitra Lynn McLeod · January 6th, 2010 at 11:48 amYes, NM…a real honest-to-God newsletter, with my own header and everything. Now, I just have to get some news to go IN it.
I’m glad I’m not alone in this whole daylight thing. It’s dreary, it’s depressing and when you live in the PNW and it rains all the time, we can go weeks without seeing a real ray of sunshine, even at noon.
And Jackson’s a ton o’ fun and a true companion. He’s sneaking in as I type. In a couple hours we’ll be walking him for another hair-do and he’ll lose some bulk just by sheering.
And Anitra, I hear you about getting up in the dark. Way WAY too much of that.

by Bonnie Edwards · January 6th, 2010 at 12:09 pmWoohoo, Bonnie! Lots of good stuff to look forward to from you this year
As for goals, mine are holdovers from last year–declutter (which is just huge, which may be why I haven’t made much progress yet…) and to better track my reading… My TBR is enormous, and I need to figure out how to better tackle it
And yep, I’m looking forward to the longer days already–more sunlight, please!
by Fedora · January 6th, 2010 at 12:57 pmI’m with you, Bonnie. Started watching the daylight on December 22…we don’t walk at night, either, especially with a small dog on a leash. We have mountain lions, and when I’ve got Rufus I always feel like I’m trolling with an hors d’oeuvre!
Congrats on the new release! Here’s to sunnier days.
by Kate Douglas · January 7th, 2010 at 8:50 amFedora, decluttering is such a pain, but when it’s done, it feels great. Why is that? Like weight loss and exercise. It feels much better to have done it. (Like trips to Costco- my dh loves when I’ve BEEN there but hates to go with me)
Kate, congrats to you too…new series! Whoo hoo!
