Hi all! The Noelle half of Chloe Harris here. Thursday Thirteen was a meme that started a while back where each Thursday bloggers posted a list of Thirteen things in any theme they chose. The main website where people posted links to their TTs is gone but the idea reminds and many people still post their lists on Thursdays.
So here is a list of 13 words or phrases plucked from the pages of Secrets of Sin. The chambermaid was smoothing a cafe-au-lait bedcover then hesitated with surprise and glanced around the master bedchamber. She slid her hand under the bedclothes and with a ginger expression pulled out a black riding crop.
Magenta bougainvillea framed the wide window. Hidden behind the tumult of blossoms stood Barhydt-O’Driscoll Shipping Comany‘s enigmatic owner. His strength and drive had meant he had found success early. He smiled to think how he could show Sirene his other metier.
There would be retribution for her small insolences from the previous evening, what with her stalking out of the living room without so much as a by-your-leave. This was a payoff that would be as sweet as sugarcane. And after all, he had caught her snooping…red-handed.

Ah, but the *payoff* will be grand, as after I sup my *sugarcane*-laced java, in the *bouganvillea*-scented garden, I shall *ginger*-ly make my way to the *Barhydt-O’Driscoll Shipping Company* where, in my true *métier*, I suspect I shall catch the *sirene* *red-handed*.

“Do you know why you have been summoned ?” He asked. His voice smooth as a cafe-au-Lait.
He had warned her several times, of the punishment she would receive, if he caught her red-handed, going through his sugarcane crop books again. Uncertain what the minx was up to, he was certain posing as a maid was not her usual metier. Soon he would tame that by-your-leave- attitude of hers.

Her boss, the heiress to the Barhydt-O’Driscoll Shipping Company, had discovered Mr Barhydt-O’Driscoll Shipping Company red-handed doing something indecent with the chambermaid and a sugarcane and in response had retreated under the bedcovers for a month.
Since her return, a week ago, she had, without a by-your-leave or apology, dumped applications on Sirene’s desk every morning and, although housekeeping was hardly Sirene’s métier, had demanded suitable ‘help’ be engaged asap.
