Sweet! My 2 Weeks of Alone Time with Bastian!
DANE, The Lords of Satyr

DANE, The Lords of Satyr

My husband just got back from 2 weeks in Sweden and Denmark. It was part work and part vacation for him. I stayed home working on Bastian, my 5th Lords of Satyr novel. I missed my husband, but I enjoyed my alone time with Bastian!  Oh yeah!

And I have to say that it is SO much easier to work when my husband’s not here. No interruptions, except phone calls. And I got things done, baby! I worked on my novel every day, but I also assigned myself one task from a to-do list. One day I cleaned a spare bedroom, which tends to become a catch-all room for empty boxes and ‘treasures’. The boxes got flattened and put out with recycling and most of the ‘treasures’ went to Goodwill. I think I need to send my husband off once a year, so I can do spring cleaning like this!

Without exception, my friends all said they envied me because I had the house to myself. And, although I’m glad my guy is home again, I did enjoy the solitude. Are you like this? Even though you love your husband/partner/SO/children/pets, do you yearn for some alone time? To clean, to read, to shop, to think, or whatever you want? What do you do when they’re gone?

Drop a comment for a chance to win a copy of my newest release–Dane, The Lords of Satyr.

We are retired and my husband is home 24/7.
A bit of alone time would be wonderful!

My husband is actually a truck driver so he is gone 2 to 3 weeks at a time. I have 3 boys however so i don’t get alot of alone time. When i do i actually like to read since it’s so nice a quiet and i can concentrate for more than 5 minutes before someone interrupts me. I’m actually reading Nicholas’s book right now that a friend sent me so i’m new to your books. Really enjoying it.

    thanks

    Lisa B

I love my husband but really enjoy when he goes camping for a weekend. He was away for a week this summer though, and I did get lonely – spent way too much time out with friends at the local pub lol!

I truly adore my husband but he tends to travel much for work. We wish that it were not so. One of the traits that has been helpful for me is that I am actually happy to do things on my own. This isn’t to say that I don’t sometimes wish that he were with me to share an experience. However, when I am on my own I can explore what I know he is not interested in or in some cases go somewhere or do something and not have to compormise on the situation because I feel guilty about cajoling him into it…shopping features largely in this category.

By the way, hubby is a Dane (and I consider him to be pretty great). Hope Scandinavia was fun for your husband.

I would love 2 weeks to myself to clean and mostly read and catch up with all the things that need to be done around the house. Family tends to get in the way when doing these chores. I have kids in the house so, yeah, they need attention, too.

I remember 2 years ago, I decided not to go on a family vacation(?) to the in-laws, so DH took the kids and I thought I was in heaven. I think I read 10 books for the 14 days they were gone.

It’s definetly great to have alone time…but definitely envious of your alone time with Bastian..but that’s okay ’cause when you finish then Sevin’s story is closer… ooooooo  ..can’t wait!! Enjoy your time Elizabeth!

    lots of hugs,

    Helen G.

My husband is home most of the time because we live in an apartment complex where he works maintenance. So he comes home in between jobs, I really never have any alone time. lol I would love 2 weeks alone. Good thing he doesn’t read this. LOL

My husband and daughter will be gone this weekend, so I’m going to find myself. No cleaning, no cooking, and no stress. Just me! me! me!

I would absolutely LOVE to have some alone time like that. For me, M-F is homework, meals, etc. and NO time for myself. This school year I’ve resorted to getting up at the crack of dawn when the “house” is still asleep just for a hour of alone time before everyone else gets up. That has been great! But I would still like one uniterrupted week or weekend to just relax with just me, myself, and I.

I’m retired and loving life. I’ve been alone for a very long time and I guard my freedom like a junkyard dog

I’ve mentioned in the past that I love your books and that I’ve read them all out order. Not really a preference but it hasn’t made any difference really. I need a copy of Nicholas and Dane and would do a happy dance to win either ;-)

I am a single mom of two teeneagers and I love them dearly but get excited when I realize that they will both be away from home at the same time. It might only be a few hours but they are my few hours which I usually spend reading with no one to bother me!!

I look forward to alone time ;) It’s not easy to come by yet though, which makes the times I do get a treat! I relax and go through my inbox (which easily gets out of hand the rest of the time!) and read, and choose to eat whatever I want for dinner (sometimes, that’s breakfast ;) ) Hope you enjoyed your alone time, Elizabeth!

For years as I was raising my 7 kids and my husband :) I actually craved alone time if for nothing else but to hear what silence sounded like. Now they have families of their own and I love every minute that I can devote to reading. I love it. :)
I love your work Elizabeth. Still loving Nicholas too. lol

Hi Estella! My mom says the SAME thing! I think women seem to need it more than men.

Lisa, I’m so glad you’re enjoying Nicholas. 2 to 3 weeks is a long time, when it happens over and over, and you have the responsibility of you boys. Hugs to you! xox

Jenn, yes! I love those short trips my guy takes. I like hanging out with my girl friends when I know I don’t have to feel guilty that he’s alone.

Hi Little Lamb. So good to see you! How fun that your husband’s a Dane. LOL. Did he model for this cover by any chance? :o ) I know what you mean about doing things on your own. When my husband is gone I remember that, yes, I actually can kill a bug that gets in the house and I can fix a computer problem. All those things I usually ask him to do. (And would prefer that he do!) Scandinavia was a blast for my husband. He really had many good things to say about how beautiful it is. I hope to go someday.

Armenia! Hi sweetie. Great to see you too! This is my idea of a great alone time. Reading and cleaning. Not that I like cleaning, but it would be nice to get it done.

Hi Helen! Another familiar face. So happy to see you! I just finished Bastian yesterday, so Sevin and I will be hanging out beginning next week. Looking forward to it!

Mary, hi! Oh, man. I feel for you. We love our guys, but we need our space!

Arlene, I hope your me me me time was fun!

Hi Lyric, Mom duty is a time-sucker, isn’t it? Husband duty can be too. We love em though! And I’m sure they love you. My mom used to get up waaaay before everyone else when I was a girl. I never thought about why, but now that you say this, I’m sure she was trying to get her own alone time!

Nancy! Hi sweetie! I’m glad to hear that reading the satyrs out of order has worked fine. I think they can all stand alone, but it’s good to hear this from you. Since I’m close to the books, I’m not the best judge. LOL about you guarding your alone time/freedom like a junkyard dog. GREAT description!

Hi Wanda! I know what you mean. My husband doesn’t understand when I want alone time. It hurts his feelings a little, so I try not to do a happy dance when I know he’ll be gone for the day or a weekend. I’m always glad to see him come home and that’s nice.

Carol, good to see you. Seven kids! Wow, that must have made it tough to get any alone time. Probably the bathroom was your best hope. LOL I’m so glad you enjoyed Nicholas and the other satyrs. Hugs.

Thank you to everyone who dropped in to visit this month. I apologize for not choosing a winner sooner. I just finished the manuscript for BASTIAN (The Lords of Satyr 6) yesterday and sent it off to my editor at Kensington. September was a butt-in-chair/eyes-on-the-manuscript month so I could get it finished, and I let many things go by the wayside. So I just called my bf and she chose the number 2, which means Lisa Boggs is the winner of DANE. Congratulations, Lisa! Please email me with your mailing address, and I’ll send it out!

I am looking forward to Bastian baby. :)
