Good morning, all…and yes, I’m a bit late getting this posted, but last night I just flat out ran out of steam. Not only did I spend two very long hours in the dentist’s chair yesterday (My first cavity in around thirty years!) I’ve been blogging all over hell and gone this week, promoting the release of not one but TWO books–HELLFIRE the second book in my DemonSlayers series, and Nocturnal, an anthology with a linked story in it that’s also part of the series, called CRYSTAL DREAMS.
I am also still promoting the release of WOLF TALES 10, which came out in July, and I have just finished writing the final story in the Wolf Tales series, WOLF TALES 12. Without giving away details, I can tell you that #12 will answer the questions you’ve had about the Chanku–where they came from, and what they’re like five years in the future, since that’s when the tale is set. I’m really happy with the way the story turned out and my beta readers seemed to approve, which is a GOOD thing, as I definitely trust their judgment.
I really love the cover for that book–but then I’ve been very lucky with all my WOLF TALES covers–here are the ones for 10 and 11, which comes out at the end of December:
I can’t wait to see what they do for the final book, though I know I’m going to have mixed feelings about that one’s release.
In the meantime, I am working on a proposal for a new series for Aphrodisia and hoping that my editor likes the idea. Not going to jinx myself right now so won’t talk about it yet, but you’ll definitely hear when I have something ready. Leave a comment, stop in and say hello, and you’ll have a chance to win Bumper! Bumper is my four-legged star in the DEMONSLAYERS–a pit bull/poodle cross, and she’s also going to be the heroine of the book I’m writing next: CRYSTALFIRE! (And no, I’m NOT tellin’!!!)
I’ll pick a couple of winners by Monday.
And, in case you’re interested, this is Bumper:
As always, if you’re interested in excerpts for my books, you can find them on my website. DEMONSLAYERS and WOLF TALES link to the different sections–follow directions to the “regular” stories and the erotic ones. Enjoy!

Hi Kate,
by Betty · September 4th, 2010 at 11:51 amBumper it tooo cute!! I am looking forward to read a story froom you with a dog as the heroine!
-Betty
I’m still reeling from the news of the final Wolf Tales. I’m so anxious to read 12, but…kinda don’t because I won’t have a 13 to look forward to.
Am excited without mixed emotions about HellFire and Nocturnal.
I still can’t watch a travelocity commercial without thinking about DemonFire. You and travelocity now forever linked. *snort-sorry*
Have a great weekend!
by Dana · September 4th, 2010 at 11:55 amBumper is just what my 20 month old greatgranddaugter would love to sleep with.
by Dianne Meierotto · September 4th, 2010 at 12:05 pmNo I’ll never be tired of you. Looking forward to your next books.
Looking forward to reading your book. Have a great weekend.
by Christy · September 4th, 2010 at 12:10 pmI can’t ever get enough of your books and they are too far in between for me. I get anxious waiting for the next books to arrive on the shelves.
Bumper is adorable!
by gerri marchewka · September 4th, 2010 at 12:20 pmPlanning a quiet weekend reading the DemonSlayer series that has been published so far. All are waiting on my Kindle.
by Karen S. · September 4th, 2010 at 12:41 pmBumper is too cute for words.
by N.J. Walters · September 4th, 2010 at 12:45 pmI want a shot at Bumper, too! LOL Too cute!
by Devyn Quinn · September 4th, 2010 at 12:53 pmGreat job, Kate. Looking forward to WT12 and the new revelations. Anton may be your favorite, but I’m more drawn to Stafan and Ulrich. My favorite combo, however, is Mik-AJ-Tala. Love that girl!!!
by Carol · September 4th, 2010 at 1:00 pmDaphne
I love The Wolf Tales #10 and looking forward to more Adam and IG. And the rest of the cast. But I’m sad when I know they’re riding into the sunset. Or flying off with the spaceship when it comes back to pick them up. They’re too awesome to be earthlings. But hopefully I’ll have Bumper to cry my eyes out with. At least I have your new work to dig into to make me smile again.
by DIVA DONNA · September 4th, 2010 at 1:30 pmBumper is adorable, and with the Douglas tag coming out of her butt, would match my wolf perfectly, and enjoy hanging out with Tigger and Eyore! Have loved all your books from Wolf Tales to now, and am really enjoying the Demonslayer series.
by Phyllis Butcher · September 4th, 2010 at 2:07 pmGood morning all…looks like Bumper makes a lot of points! She is such a big part of the series and when I saw the fluffy little dogs at the toy store in Healdsburg, CA, I knew I had to get them!!!
Dana, I don’t remember the Travelocity link! Remind me, please?
Dianne, aren’t grandkids great? AND, these are “child proof” toys!
Carol, I wanna BE Tala! And another of my favorites is Adam…I wish I’d had more time to explore him. He’s got a lot of untapped power.
Phyllis, I doubt I’ll EVER find anything as cute as the wolves!
by Kate Douglas · September 4th, 2010 at 2:13 pmWell. Saying a dog is going to be a heroine is definitely interesting! Super curious now….
by Chelsea B. · September 4th, 2010 at 2:37 pmI’m looking forward to reading these new books!
by Estella · September 4th, 2010 at 3:23 pmBumper is sooo cute.
Chelsea–there’s a character in DemonFire named Willow, a tiny little sprite who helps the ex-demon Dax adjust to his human body, and she also helps him by pulling energy for him to use when he fights demonkind. I won’t say what happens, but she ends up sharing Bumper the dog’s body for the next two books, but in the one I’m writing now, stuff happens…and yes, she becomes the heroine.
Thanks, Estella!

YAY! More Kate! MORE MORE MORE MORE! Not that I’m excited or anything like that. No, not me. This is great, I can’t wait to go get these books. You know my birthday just passed and my sister was asking what I wanted…. Hmmm I think a trip to the bookstore is in order!
by Cynnara · September 4th, 2010 at 6:05 pmBumper is very cute. Good luck with the proposal, Kate.
by Jane · September 4th, 2010 at 7:07 pmHi Kate, can’t wait for the next books!
by Yahaira · September 4th, 2010 at 7:09 pmCynnara–a trip to the bookstore is ALWAYS in order!
Thanks, Jana!
Hi, Yahaira! Thanks for stopping by.
by Kate Douglas · September 4th, 2010 at 7:11 pm*pops head up*
Am really curious to see the answer to all those questions in Wolf Tales 12.
*puts nose back to the grindstone*
by Little Lamb Lost · September 4th, 2010 at 10:56 pmBumper is too cute! Hate to see Wolf Tales comes to an end. Love them!
by Kay James · September 4th, 2010 at 11:04 pmLLL…I think you’ll like what happens. I had a lot of surprises in WT12–things I honestly didn’t know when I started writing, which is always a lot of fun!
Thanks, Kay!
by Kate Douglas · September 5th, 2010 at 1:46 amKate,
I just wanted to let you know that I am spending Labor Day weekend at a Marriott Vacation Resort with you and Jacquelyn Frank, Devyn Quinn, Susan Sizemore, and Lynsay Sand. Five books, Four Days, Five Star Resort, my idea of heaven.
Thanks for making my weekend complete.
Sincerely,
Belinda
by Belinda Lewis · September 5th, 2010 at 11:27 amKate…Don’t hate me because I’d really rather have one of your books;-) I’m only missing a couple….
Bumper is a warm fuzzy though and I could be unselfish and give to my grand niece if I won it but then I’ve got two grand nieces (only) and that would be an issue. Sigh.
I don’t have Sexy Beast VIII or Hellfire yet
by Nancy Bristow · September 5th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
I am going to miss the Chanku, but look forward to new plots and characters in a different genre. For the cover of 12, maybe you can try a cover with all the sexy men that have ben featured over the yrs, with antons right in the front.. go down the line as they came into the story..
by Christine Milone · September 5th, 2010 at 12:15 pmAm happy will be getting my glasses soon, and can start reading again in earnest, I miss it. Good luck with the new proposal.. Have a wonderful weekend!!
Okay, Belinda…I am SOOOOOO jealous! Sounds like MY idea of heaven, too! Enjoy!!!
Nancy, I will always trade out books for Bumper if that’s what you want. Hey, I’m easy!
Hi Chris! Looks like you made it–I was just going to check and see what the problem might be….like I’d actually know how to fix something?
I hear ya on the glasses–mine are barely a year old, but I can’t see a darned thing and need to get my eyes checked again. Glad you made Blogger work!
by Kate Douglas · September 5th, 2010 at 12:19 pmBumper is cute maybe he could be my new cuddle toy!! Looking at my “To Be Read” stack of over 30 books trying to decide which one to begin today. The kids think I should be doing laundry so they have uniforms to wear on Tuesday – boring!!! Decisions – reading or being a responsible adult……Anyway, as always thanks Kate for your wonderful books!!!
by Wanda C · September 5th, 2010 at 1:58 pmHI!! Wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed all your books…Please keep them coming…
by Marie Lisk · September 5th, 2010 at 2:45 pmWanda, you can ALWAYS be a responsible adult! Go for the TBR pile!
Thanks Marie!
by Kate Douglas · September 5th, 2010 at 3:03 pmMy sister has been visiting my family and I and we have her pembroke welsh corgi (Buster) as a guest as well, and lets say … my weekend has been interesting! Between my African Grey and her puppy well, life is always interesting!! HAHA!! I love visiting with family we have a hard time getting together often but we definitely make the time worthwile. We watched 4 movies in one night so I guess we are definetly night owls!! And I must say I am loving the covers for the Wolf Tales 10 and 11 but I definitely share your feelings in letting go of your characters as you wrap up the Chanku world. I hope you are able to expand into it with a Second generation story arc. I have a hard time letting go and this would be a good way to keep them around!! Hope you enjoy your weekend and I absolutely LOVE Bumper!!!
Lots of love,
by Helen Gonzalez · September 5th, 2010 at 3:36 pmHelen G.
Helen, sounds like fun! I rarely watch movies, but every once in awhile I’ll go downstairs to the tv room and pull out an old favorite. And yeah, the covers for 10 and 11 are gorgeous, but I’m dying to see what they do with #12! Thanks for stopping by. I’m going to pull my winners tomorrow, so be sure and check back!
by Kate Douglas · September 5th, 2010 at 11:11 pmKate, we could NEVER get tired of you OR your stories. NEVER. Bumper sure is a cutie pie! And starring in Crystalfire, you say? Big job for a little thing
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
by Fedora · September 6th, 2010 at 1:12 amI’m late to the party here but still have to tell you that Bumper is too adorable.Looking forward the WT12 and the new books.

Just finished reading Demonfire yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Now I have to get Nocturnal. And wait anxiously for Wolf Tales 11 to get here.
by Beth C. · September 6th, 2010 at 10:59 pmI’m loving the books! Bumper is too cute. I can’t wait to see what you write next.

by Mary · September 7th, 2010 at 12:11 amGood morning, Fedora–Bumper is adorable, but she’s sharing her body with Willow the will o’the wisp and in CrystalFire, Willow gets a BIG GIRL body! And then she gets her very own hero.
I had a great weekend, but as usual it was spent at my computer working up a proposal for a new series.
Thanks, Carol. Wolf Tales 11 will be out in about three months…not all that far off, actually!
Thanks Mary. I can’t wait to see what I write next, either…
and I really need to get my butt in gear and write it!!!
by Kate Douglas · September 7th, 2010 at 12:23 pmCongrats to Nancy Bristow and Dianne Meieretto who are my winners for this month’s blog. Please drop me a note and let me know if you want Bumper or a book from either the DemonSlayers series or Wolf Tales. If I’ve got it, it’s yours.
