I’m on deadline so will make this a short post, but wanted to answer some questions I’ve been getting from readers. First of all, my story in the NIGHTSHIFT anthology is the first of a new series for the Aphrodisia erotic romance line from Kensington. Dream Catcher, which takes place in 1992, introduces MacArthur Dugan, a brilliant young post-grad student working on computer software at the dawn of the personal computer era. He meets a mysterious woman who will change his life–a woman from the future. DREAM BOUND, my first full length novel in the series, picks up in 2012.
The blurb for DREAM BOUND reads: Mac Dugan has spent his entire adult life and millions of dollars creating the technology he needs to rescue his beloved Zianne–a creature of another world and another time. Now, he has his team of brilliant telepaths, his amazing array of satellite receivers and a plan. But is Zianne still alive, and will she and her people ever escape their captors?
When a man’s dreams are this big, anything is possible
DREAM BOUND is all about Mac bringing together his dream team of young men and women with telepathic abilities who will help him rescue Zianne and her fellow captives. The book I’m working on now–and the one I really have to get back to–is DREAM UNCHAINED. This story takes place over just a twenty-four hour period and covers the actual rescue. I’m really enjoying the writing process–the first book practically wrote itself, which is always a good sign. This one has a lot more tension and I’m doing my best to keep both the hotter than hot relationships every bit as engrossing as the rescue itself. Times like this I find myself sitting at my computer and just grinning at the screen. Damn I love my job!
I’ve also had people asking me about CrystalFire. Yes, it’s the final book in the DemonSlayers series, and if you’ve been reading the series, you’ve been following the trials and tribulations of Willow and Bumper. Willow is the tiny little sprite whose body got eaten by the demon king, but she managed to save herself by hiding her consciousness inside Bumper the dog. Bumper is a cross between a pit bull and a poodle. Not the brightest bulb in the box, but she’s got a good heart and she loves Willow so much she doesn’t mind sharing. But in the opening of CrystalFire, the demon king attacks and zaps Bumper. However, his magic goes awry and Willow ends up with a woman’s body with Bumper’s consciousness lodged inside HER brain!
The one who’s there to rescue Willow is SO not hero material–Taron is a scholar, a celibate by choice, who’s suddenly the one designated to fight the demon king, but he’s as busy fighting his suddenly awakened libido as anything else, when Willow sets her sights on the sexy Lemurian. This book was flat out fun to write, and I know you’re going to love what happens. Pre-order now, or watch for it in April, and I’ve got first chapters of all my books up at my website: www.katedouglas.com
And the last bit of info, which is really sort of old news but I announced during the holidays and a lot of you missed it, and that is that I’ve signed a contract for a new series, SPIRIT WILD, which is my second generation Chanku series. Yep, the kids are all grown up in a world that knows shapeshifters exist. The first book on the schedule is ‘TO LOVE A DARK WOLF’ which is Lily Cheval’s story.
Now, if you’ve got any other questions or comments, please leave a comment even if it’s just to say “hi,” and I’ll be choosing a winner for a book of your choice (if it’s one I have) or a stuffed critter. I’ve still got dogs and wolves, and I’ve now added squirrels to go with Dream Bound–that’s a picture of one up above. BUT, I need to get back to work, so I’ll check in later.

My questions is:
When are you coming back up to Oregon? and when you do I am so going to stalk you. But I hope that doesn’t stop you from coming back..

by hales · January 18th, 2012 at 5:24 pmBoth new series sound good……I love the Chanku series…….can’t wait to see the children grown
by Darlene Robinson · January 18th, 2012 at 5:39 pmWow, it sounds like you are a very busy writer! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of your stories that I have read! Thank you.
by Tina B · January 18th, 2012 at 5:40 pmCant wait for all your new series to come out. Im starting to collect all your books so that when you come to washington state I have some for you to sign.
by Jessi moore · January 18th, 2012 at 5:55 pmGood luck with the writing and congrats on the upcoming release, Kate.
by Jane · January 18th, 2012 at 6:02 pmI just love you and your books & your husbands pictures you two are just awesome together thanks for sharing your family with all of us I think its nice to see the kids growing up wonder if there is a writer or photographer in the bunch guess we wait & see… blessings to you always
by Lisa · January 18th, 2012 at 6:10 pmHi Kelly–not soon enough! I love Oregon, and we do have a lot of family up there, so hopefully I’ll make the trip next year some time. Will definitely let you know.
Hales, I forgot about that–and yes, we own half an acre of forest, with more all around, and I absolutely love it.
Darlene–I’m excited about the new series. I’ve already written about five chapters of Lily’s story, and the first thing I discovered was that Anton is a pain in the butt as a father to a grown woman. She has to constantly block him to keep him out of her head, and he really wants her to mate with Alex, but she and Alex are like brother and sister (with benefits) and it ain’t gonna happen. I had no idea when I started where the story would go, and it’s already caught me. But I need to finish the one I’m working on now, first!
Thanks, Tina. I am and I love being busy! My head’s so full of stories, I swear it’d explode if I didn’t get them written!
Jessi, I’m actually hoping to go to the conference in Seattle next year. How far are you from there?
Thanks, Jane!!
Thank you, Lisa. Believe me, I am damned lucky and I know it.
by KateDouglas · January 18th, 2012 at 6:20 pmHello Kate! I love your books and I am very thankful for my friend on facebook for bringing them to my attention. I would have missed so many great books. I may have found you eventually, but who knows when? lol Thank you for the giveaway Kate =D

by mandy honea · January 18th, 2012 at 7:21 pmI can’t wait to read Crystal Fire.I have read so many of your books that I could not pick a favorite. I just say the one I’m reading at the time is my favorite.Could you write them faster because I am on pins and needles waiting for them to come out.lol
by Lavonne Page · January 18th, 2012 at 7:29 pmKate,
I’m sooooo happy about the Next Generation contract. I can’t wait to read about Lily’s trials and tribulations with a father like Anton! But, still love him, too. The posting for Dream Bound is awesome. As I told you before, it will be a great 4-day-early birthday present for me. And I have Crystal Fire already on pre-order.
My Bumper dog sits at the computer with me whenever I write and helps. She was excited to see that she is going to play a big part in the final book!
I would love a little wolf to keep her company when I’m not here!
Thanks for all your fantastic writing. Keep it coming.
by Maria E · January 18th, 2012 at 7:34 pmIt might be selfish, but I am so glad that you signed a contract to write about the Chanku children. I really miss reading your books about the Chanku. I know Lily’s story will be awesome. I am also anxiously awaiting CrystalFire. I think it will be fun to see Taron struggle.
Keep writing because I also want to read Dream Bound and Dream Unchained. I am really interested to see where you go with this series.
Sounds like this year is going to be a great one for you. You deserve it!–Dawn

by Mary Kirkland · January 18th, 2012 at 10:27 pmKate, so looking forward to your upcoming releases. I have CrystalFire on pre-order already, and I think my Bumper and Wolf would love a squirrel to play with. Eeyore is always sad, and Tigger keeps bouncing around and just won’t stay still.
by Phyllis Butcher · January 19th, 2012 at 1:03 amHi Kate, i’m really happy that you are going to get to write the second generation Chanku series =)
by Regina Ross · January 19th, 2012 at 8:42 amGood morning–it’s cold and windy and a storm’s coming in…finally! We’ve had a record-setting dry winter here in northern California, and jc, as cold as it is in NY, at least you’re getting some precipitation!
Emily, I have to admit, I love the fact that I can find new readers through Facebook, but you know what the best part is? I get to see what you guys look like! It makes our conversations so much more interesting.
Rolanda–and the rest of you, too!–NEVER say you’re ‘just a reader.’ Where the hell would writers be without readers? You’re the reason we write our stories down. And I love hearing about husbands reading the books with their wives.
It’s like I’m helping sex lives around the country!
Mandy, Maria, Dawn and Regina–I’m as happy as you guys that I get to write the next generation! I was actually thinking of self-pubbing them if I couldn’t find a publisher, but then they’d only be ebooks and I really like the idea of print. Can’t wait to get started.
And Phyllis–I think poor Eyeore needs a hug.
by KateDouglas · January 19th, 2012 at 1:08 pm

dryness may not be too good but beats bone chilling coolness with no gorgeous forest view and a hunk by my side ;;) hi mr d .
by j c · January 19th, 2012 at 9:56 pmGlad to know about the new Chanku books. Eagerly awaiting them.
Wow. Didn’t know about the new series. Where has my attention been?
Will have to get NightShift so that I can get started on the storyline.
And you may be liking this new storm system but I am in western Washington.
by Beth · January 20th, 2012 at 7:52 amGood morning, all…I haven’t checked in for a couple of days. Went to Occidental (in the redwoods) and went Zip lining! It was SO COOL!!! Here’s a link to one of my “zips” through the trees–my daughter took this: http://youtu.be/fvkg-GK5HLw
Tracy, Lily is gorgeous (aren’t ALL the Chanku) and her story is pretty exciting so far.
jc–it’s snowing here this morning. VERY cold out!
Beth, while we were ziplining in the rain, it rained over four inches here in Cobb–and it’s snowing this morning. I think we’re finally getting winter. It’s been a long time coming and the forest was really getting dry.
by KateDouglas · January 22nd, 2012 at 1:21 pmWhat an adorable squirrel! I would normally choose a toy but I know my dog would destroy it in ten minutes flat. LOL For being so cute and sweet, my little dog is a bit bloody thirsty when it comes to stuffed animals.
by StacieD · January 22nd, 2012 at 1:28 pmLove your books and can’t wait for all the new ones!

by Amanda Cantu · January 22nd, 2012 at 1:37 pmI’ve been buying the DemonSlayer series, but haven’t read them yet. I’m a “series reader”; I like to have all or most of the books (or ebooks) on hand before I start. CrystalFire looks great and I can’t wait to get it and get started reading!
by Becky Daresh · January 22nd, 2012 at 1:38 pmHi Kate! I cannot wait for your Spirit Wild series! I know it will be great! I am reading Dream Bound currently and loving every second! Sounds like you and your daughter had a great time Zip lining. Glad you got to enjoy the new grandbaby over the holidays!
Looking forward to new releases always!

by JAIME FELTNER · January 23rd, 2012 at 9:59 amHi guys–coming up for air to check and see who’s been here. I’m working on deadline for Dream Unchained and still nowhere near finishing!
StacieD, you’re not the only one with a killer beast at home! (Or beast killer?
)
Pat, Cianna, Denise and Amanda, thank you!
Becky, I’ve been known to do that, too. Love to sit down and read them all at once. However, I also reread series–buy and read as they’re released and then when the last one comes out, go back and reread all of them. I always love a book more the second time around for some reason!
THanks, Christy–you must be reading Dream Catcher. Dream Bound isn’t out until June! Good to hear from you.
Betty, Spirit Wild will have a lot of the same characters, but give Dream Bound a chance in June when it’s out.
Mary, you’re easy! Thank you.
Thanks Sherri and Christine. And Kelly, it’s probably because I”m way quirky in real life! And Diane, they are just adorable! Really cute and fluffy.
Tracey, send me an email and catch me up on stuff!
You’re welcome, Vanessa, and thanks Robin, Lavonne and Kylie.
Kim, zip lining was a hoot! I loved it and plan to go again.
Jamie, no stuffed wolves–squirrels for the new series. I may do more wolves when Spirit Wild debuts in 2013.
by KateDouglas · January 23rd, 2012 at 7:27 pmAs promised, I’ve got my winners–used a “random number picker” again and I need to hear from #23: Beth, #37 Diane G. #32 Betty Hamilton and #41 Kylie Scott.
Let me know what your choice of prize is–I’m out of wolves, but have dogs and squirrels or a copy of NIGHTSHIFT or Wolf Tales 11 or 12 OR StarFire.
And thank you all for stopping by. I love hearing from everybody!
