The end of September? Really? 2009, right? Where did the first half of the year go? I had so many plans for this year, and Nothing I’d planned is done yet. It’s not like I haven’t been busy either. I have. I’ve been working, and reading, and watching movies, and playing with my cats, playing with my camera. Oh yeah, and playing with my friends.
I deliberately took 2008 off from writing anything new. I finished up my contracts and thought I’d take the 2009 to work on something different, just for my own creative challenge sort of thing. But man, it’s September and I still haven’t gotten a new book written. Part of me thinks, “It’s okay, you’re refilling your creative well with life experience.” Another part of me thinks, “God Sasha, get off your ass and write something!” This thought runs through my head especially when I hear about friends getting new contracts and great new covers. Yet, I’m only now starting to write again.
I think sometimes as authors we get so wrapped up in writing about life that we forget to live it. I have friends who used to ask me why I’d still work at the restaurant/bar when I didn’t have to because I could live off my living. My answer then was that I’m a people person. I like to serve and meet and chat with people from all walks of life. When I made the choice to take the year off from hardcore writing I told my boss I could work more hours. So for the last 9 months I’ve been working 4 nights a week, and my friends ask me if I’m ever going to write again. I say for sure! I’m just gathering data. And strangely enough, that’s what it does come down to. When I really think about it, my writing, my creativity increases drastically when I work outside of my writing. My energy goes up, my characters feel more like real people and story-lines come easier. I think many writers get this boost form their families, but not all of us have family close by to keep us from living in our own heads too much.
Hobbies are a great way to get yourself off the computer and out among the “people” for a while too. Some people like to work out often, or play sports. Being part of crafts groups or even writing groups can help with this. Me, I spent a lot of time this past summer improving my photography skills. Since I don’t have anything new story wise to share with y’all, I thought I’d share some of my photos.

This slideshow is from a day at the park with my work crew, playing ball and having a BBQ.

I get asked all the time where I come up with my story ideas – and my answer is, I have no clue. I don’t think many authors do. They inch into our minds during that time between sleep and wakefulness, they spring boldly into our imaginations when we listen to music, meeting someone can spark an idea, as can a TV show or movie. Ideas come from everywhere and anywhere.
The idea for my May 26 release MOST WANTED, come from you, the reader.
MOST WANTED is a single author anthology with three stories, all of them connected to previous stories of mine from Aphrodisia – and I finally set about writing them because of the reader letters I was getting for more of Lexy and Devon (From The Crib) or more of my paranormal Hunters. As much as I love the characters and the stories, I don’t think I would’ve ever gotten around to actually writing them if it hadn’t been for readers asking for more.
HIDDEN CRAVINGS, the first story in the anthology, is a sequel to THE CRIB from the PURE SEX anthology. It’s the exact same hero and heroine. THE CRIB was my first story for Aphrodisia, and it was released in June 2006, when Aphrodisia was s till a fairly new line. There were plenty of reviews that said it wasn’t an erotic romance because it didn’t have a traditional HEA. I felt it was a happy ending, because that particular story was about Lexy’s personal issues. Issues she had to deal with in order to move on in her life-emotionally. And while it ended on a good note with the characters relationship wise, I can see how readers wanted more, because at the end of THE CRIB, Devon dropped Lexy off at the airport so she could fly back home. It was the right ending for that novella, but yes…there was certainly more tot he story of Lexy and Devon. So I was thrilled to get back to them and pick things up about a year after THE CRIB ends, when Devon shows up on Lexy’s doorstep to ask for her help.
UNRESTRICTED ACCESS is Jackson Barrows story. Jackson is a cop, and his partner was the hero in SEX AS A WEAPON from THE COP anthology. Jack didn’t get much page time in that story because he was recovering from a bullet in the butt. *grin*. Jackson is a typical cop in that he guards his own secrets well…I had no idea that he had such a need to please when I first met him-and neither did his pretty neighbor Jill.
The final story in the anthology is called NO ANGEL, and it ended up being one of my most favorite ever stories. The hero is Gabriel Mann, the work-hard, play-harder younger brother of Caleb Mann from SEXY DEVIL. (and shares some of the characters form PRIMAL MALE also) I have to tell you, when I sat down to write this story I had no idea what it was about aside from the fact that that Anna was a demon hunter, and Gabe, was a bit of a party- hard bad boy. But these two, as soon as I started writing, they had me. I finished the first draft of their story in 2 days. I didn’t even sleep! They hooked me and reeled me in, and completely took over my fingers.
All in all, the book was written with love, and I really hope readers feel that when they pick it up. To all of you who read -Thank you. You have the power to inspire me.

Last time I was here I talked about how I’d never planned to write a series, yet somehow I ended up with connected stories. Well, today I want to show off the cover for my June release MOST WANTED, and give you an excerpt.
First off, why is this connected to what I said about series’? Because MOST WANTED is a singll author anthology with three novellas, and each novella is a sequel to one of my other Aphrodisia stories.
Yep, readers kept asking about them, so the characters got more stories. See the power you readers have?
Check it out.

Bad boys—they’re the best lovers around. Submit to the pleasure of their dark and dangerous passions…
“Hidden Cravings”
PI Lexy Signorino has spent the last year trying to forget her insatiable desire for Devon Kaye’s rock hard body. But when he turns up one night asking her to help him find his missing cousin, she’s ready to surrender to sweet sensual satisfaction…
Lexy and Devon from THE CRIB in the Pure Sex anthology are together again in HIDDEN CRAVINGS.
“Unrestricted Access”
Jillian Furst has lusted after detective Jackson Barrows long enough and decides it’s time for some female seduction. She sends him flowers and a steamy letter with explicit instructions for a sexual fantasy that keeps them busy in bed all night long…
Detective Jackson Barrows watched his partner fall for a thief in SEX AS A WEAPON in The Cop anthology, and in UNRESTRICTED ACCESS, he does some falling of his own.
“No Angel”
Anna Blair looks sweet and innocent, but playboy Gabriel Mann discovers she’s far from it. Mess with her and she’ll mess right back. And that’s just the way he likes it—down and dirty carnal pleasure that keeps him coming back for more…
NO ANGEL continues Sasha’s paranormal Hunter series with Gabriel Mann, the work hard-play harder younger brother of Caleb Mann from SEXY DEVIL, and demon hunter Anna Blair
The funny thing about this anthology for me was that the two stories I thought about the most before writing them, were the ones I had the most trouble with. I think I just wanted tothem to be so good, and I’d waited so long to writ them that I put too much pressure on myself. The third story NO ANGEL, well, it was pure fun to write. In fact, that novella took less than three days to write. It just flowed, straight from my fingertips onto the page, and I laughed out loud a few times while writing it. It’s certainly not one I thought would be easy, and humor is never been my strong suit, but these two characters and I had fun. So I want to share with you one of my favorite scenes.
Below the break is an unedited excerpt from NO ANGEL, in the MOST WANTED anthology. It’s a sex scene, so be ware of explicit content. *grin*. I hope you enjoy!

I think Free Reads are awesome. As a reader I love gettign them. I mean who doesn;t liek tha free book/ebook? As an author I thinkit’s a great way to maybe hook some new readers while rewarding my regular readers.
In the past I’ve done a couple of them , you can find them on the EXTRAS page of my website by surfing the sidebar. MEANDORS is a short story I wrote over 5 years ago. It was the one that won the Amber Quill HeatWave contest and was published by them for a year. It’s been available as free read from me for about a year now. And now, I’ve put out another one for you.
ABDUCTION is another short story I wrote five years ago. It was also available from Amber Quill press for a couple of years, but has basically sat on my computer for the last 2 years doing absolutely nothing. Since I only have one novel scheduled for release this year, I thought I should offer up something to hold y’all over.
I pulled it out, polished it up a bit, and created a cover. (Yes, I did the cover myself…I’m very proud of that)
Those who have read the version that AQP published will notice a few changes, nothing huge, but I did tweak it a bit to help set up some more stories. Yes, there is a sequel (Written 4.5 years ago) that I’m polishing up for you as well…and there might even be more after that.
For now you can read them both online or download the PDF’s from my Scribd Page. I hope you enjoy them!
When Max Cooper, a “damaged” ex-Coast Guard officer, wakes up naked in a strange bed with no memory of how he got there, “alien abduction” is not what pops into his head.
It’s Captain Tyla Natori’s job to bring males from other worlds back to her own female-dominated planet to be put “on the market.” When she finds a perfect male speciman in the form of Max Cooper, however, she decides he’s the one for her…and he has no choice in the matter…
Or does he?
(Click on the cover to go to the bookpage)
Previous reviews for ABDUCTION:
“ABDUCTION by Sasha White is a quick sumptuous read that will have you squirming and wanting to abduct a love slave of your very own. Ms. White developed her characters quickly and solidly in an other worldly setting that you will want to visit again.” – eCataromance Reviews
“Hot, fast-paced and erotic, the tension between Tyla and Max is sizzling. This sci-fi Erotica quickie delivers!” – Romance Divas

Have you ever wondered if you’d “go for it” if given the chance to live out a fantasy?
I’ve often wondered it for myself, then usually said “Yes!”. LOL My opportunites have always managed to come as a chance of luck type thing, which is why I generally go with it. Sort of a “it was meant to happen” type of train of thought. And some of those fantasies
I’ve been on readers loops where they talk about why they enjoy reading BDSM, and if they would truly be interested in experiencing it. And I’ve been on writers loops where we talk about why we write about BDSM relationships. The conversations often lead to different levels of BDSM and Kink, as well as the relationships and more – like how to research this stuff?
Me? I usually research by talking to people, and maybe even trying a thing or two. Okay, maybe a thing or three. *grin* Anyway, One valuable, and very naughty research tool I found is a website. Into The Attic is an amature BDSM site. Women (And I think men, get to go there, an explore their submissive fantasies. The catch? It’s videotaped.
Now, one thing I did notice in my research into BDSM previously is that the majority of submissives usually also enjoy some exhibitionism. So this might not be a bad thig for some. It was certainly a good thing for my research as I learned a lot by watching , and talking to them. (You can read more about my research at THE DUNGEON )
Into The Attic is a member site, where you watch real live submissive sessions. These are not actors, but real people. I’ve watched less than half a dozen of the film sequences with various Guests of the Attic (Each session seems to have 5 or 6 sequences,) and I’m still not sure how I feel about them.
Were they tasteful? I think they are. You can choose what part of each session you want to watch, and each session is also descrbed above so you know what you are getting into.
Each session also starts and ends with the Guest speaking clearly about what they are there for. (I’m sure that’s sort of a legal thing too) lol
Were the videos arousing to me? More to my imaginaition than my body. I think I’d enjoy it a lot more if I was writing a BDSM themed story right now – As they are nothing if not creative. I also might enjoy it more if there was a chance of myself and a partner emulating some of it…but I’m partnerless right now, so I took a more analytical view of things. LOL
Do I recommend it? Yes! I think if you have an interest in being submissive, or exploring that aspect of yourself, beyond reading some hot hot stories from authors like us, you should definitely check out INTO THE ATTIC. It’s very interesting.

I should probably tell you all some behind the scenes tidbit about my December release PRIMAL MALE, but instead, I just want to say I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season. Here’s some tips to help you enjoy!
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday
buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots,
leave immediately. Go next door, where they’re serving rum balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It’s rare. You cannot find
it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000
calories in every sip? It’s not as if you’re going to turn into an eggnog-oholic
or something. It’s a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It’s later than
you think. It’s Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That’s the whole point of gravy.
Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed
potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they’re made with skim milk or whole
milk. If it’s skim, pass. Why bother? It’s like buying a sports car with an
automatic transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your
eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people’s
food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year’s. You
can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for
long naps, which you’ll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a
10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted
Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them
and don’t budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of
attention. They’re like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind,
you’re never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple,Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you
don’t like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When
else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it’s loaded with the mandatory
celebratory calories, but avoid it at all costs. I mean, have some
standards.
10. One final tip: If you don’t feel terrible when you leave the party or get
up from the table, you haven’t been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over,
but hurry: January is just around the corner.

PRIMAL MALE, the sequel to SEXY DEVIL is here! The official release date is Nov 28th, but rumor is some stores in the U.S already have it, and it’s shipping from Barnes and Nobles right now! I’m pretty excited. This is my first true sequel ever. Sure, with my Berkley Books, they all center around Vancouver, and many of the characters have been secondary ones before, but to me, they’re not really sequels, even though they are slightly connected. Does that make sense?
Maybe it’s because PRIMAL MALE is a paranormal, so there are things -psychic and paranormal aspects- that are carried over? Or maybe it’s because Gina and Caleb, from The Devil Inside, actually have active parts in it as well. After all, they were the start of the whole thing.
Here’s the history on this series. The Devil Inside is my very first paranormal ever written, and it was written about 4 years ago, and published by Liquid Silver Books as a novella. It’s not super paranormal, just a psychic woman with a bit of a wild streak, hooking up with a straight laced guy who doesn’t believe in ‘that stuff”. I’m not a plotter, and although I knew Gina had a brother, when he and his best friend showed up at the end of the story, I KNEW I wanted to write their story. I mean come on… two hot ex-military guys who work private security now, and ones a telepath and the other is an empath? These guys were hot!
However, right around that time is when NY came calling and I got busy with other works like BOUND and TROUBLE for Berkley and THE CRIB and SEX AS A WEPON for Aphrodisia. It wasn’t until I got the right s back for The Devil Inside that I decided what I wanted to do. I pitched the idea to my wonderful editor John, and he like d it. SEXY DEVIL was born. In SEXY DEVIL you have a fleshed out The Devil Inside, and it’s sequel Devil’s Jewel.
Devil’s Jewel didn’t feel like a sequel to me when I wrote it because Devil’s (Gina’s brother) story picked up exactly where The Devil Inside ended. It was just in His POV, so we started to see the wrold as he saw it…which was a lot more paranormal and slighly darker becasue he and his partner were on a demon hunt.
SEXY DEVIL was last years release, and now finally, Drake’s story is here. PRIMAL MALE is a sequel in my mind, because it takes place abotu 6 months after SEXY DEVIL ends, and all of the players from that book are in this one at some point or another as well – in active rolls, not just on the sideline.
While keeping those characters involved made writing it a bit harder for me, in some ways it also made it easier and more enjoyable. And I’m thrilled that readers love sequels, and so far, they are loving PRIMAL MALE!
The reader reviews on B&N are starting to show, and so far, they’re great. Reader Rosalind sums it all up wonderfully, so instead of posting the back cover blurb, I’m going to copy her 5 Star review…

“Ms. White has intrigued the reader by delving into a paranormal world filled with adventure and romance. More interesting is the irony of Drake’s ability to tune in to everyone emotions around him, while having some difficulty coping with his own.
The verbal wizardry of Ms. White quickly delved into this empath’s multi-dimensional personality so that the reader could understand the depth of his anger and frustration, lust and desire that was almost hard to manage. Melissa depicts a clever and emotionally strong woman that not only knows what she wants, but what she needs to remain hidden from everyone else; it’s interesting to see the two as they interact.
The reader also gets an unexpected treat from the other characters in the book to round things out. Unfortunately, there are some commitment issues in the book, making it even that much more enjoyable to read. This is a story that explores some pain and suffering, making it much more real. You need to know what happens in the end and if it can work. Sasha White isn’t afraid to explore the unusual then pull you in, so that you’re wrapped around her fingers. Also, readers will be pleasantly surprised at the bonus at the conclusion of the story. I truly adored it! Bravo, Ms. White for another excellent tale of love.”
YAY!! I’m so happy! SO happy, that I think more sequels are a definite possibility. What do you think? Think you’d like to see more of these supernatural hunters and their families?
Cheryl McInnis at Romance Junkies.com enjoys sequels, and gave PRIMAL MALE 5 Blue Ribbons!
“Author Sasha White has outdone herself yet again with PRIMAL MALE. This sequel to last year’s SEXY DEVIL is fast-paced, breathtakingly sensual and riveting. I finished this story in one sitting because I couldn’t tear myself away. The chemistry between Drake and Mel was very hot and the love scenes steamy and explicit, but even more compelling for me was the very real emotional connection between the two of them, and watching their relationship grow was deeply satisfying. PRIMAL MALE is yet another example of why Sasha White has become a favorite of readers who love both a well written story and sizzling love scenes. Pick this book up, and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.”
To celebrate the release of PRIMAL MALE, I’m giving away a copy of SEXY DEVIL. WOW. Pretty nice new digs we have here, eh?
This is my first post at the new home, and honestly, my first one in a long time for the Aphrodisia blog at all. Yep.. I’ve been an absentee author. Let me explain why though…I’m a binger. In everything.
Some things I’ve learned to control, like eating – that’s not to say I don’t binge on donuts every now and then, but it is to say when I do it…I do it knowingly. Y’know when you have a bad day and you just don’t care? I also binge when I read, or watch movies. And when I write. I wish I could blog regularly, work my night job, and write a certain number of words or pages each day – and never panic when a deadline got close. But no matter how hard I try, it just doesn’t work like that for me. I wrote one book that way, and it’s my least selling and worst reviewed book. For me, I need to immerse myself in the story, so that I can feel it and just let it happen. That means binging.
The ringer on the phone gets turned off, I take time off my day job, and I go “into the cave” and write write write. It’s not the healthiest thing. I gain 10 pounds with every book. But it’s fun. LOL It’s almost as good as doing nothing but reading for a day.
One of my favorite things to do is rent a bunch of movies and watch one right after the other. OR when I get a really good book I’ve been waiting for – I like to turn off the phone…sit with my Diet Dr.Pepper and bag of popcorn, and …read.
Another of my guilty pleasures is photography. It’s a guilty pleasure because I spend so much time playing with photos, surfing photos, taking photos and organizing my photo album. It’s my guilty pleasure because this is what I tend to do when I should be writing.
However, my interest in photography, and other creative arts paid off when I was asked to do a single author anthology for Aphrodisia, and I decided to set the stories around an art gallery. One that specialized in erotic art. (You can see some of the research and such in the LUSH Gallery page on my website.
LUSH has been out or more than a year now, and it’s still one of my personal favorites…maybe because in writing it I proved something to myself. About LUSH Billie Jo from Romance Junkies says, “Within the pages of LUSH, you will discover three sensual tales that will have you laughing, crying and grabbing for a fan to cool off.” And EC and Avon author Cathryn Fox says, “Sasha White’s stories are molten lava all wrapped up in spun silk. Richly emotional and highly passionate, these erotic stories take the reader on a sensuous journey inside the bedroom and out.”
Sexy Devil is also a single author anthology…only with two stories. Okay, there is a bonus read short story at the back, but it’s touted as the two story anthology. And yes, that one was a quick delve into that world and binge write too. Romance Reviews Today (Erotic) says: “SEXY DEVIL is comprised of two wonderfully written stories that will entertain as well as sizzle the pages. Author Sasha White shows her mastery at creating two true erotic romances rather than sex-filled, unplotted tales. In addition, readers get treated to a little bonus that caps it off beautifully.”
I think my stories are better when I binge write because I become as immersed in the characters and the story as I do when reading one of my own favorite authors. It’s a lot longer process, (I can read a good book in hours, but writing one takes at least a month) but they both work for me. Right now I’m in the cave working on MOST WANTED, which will be released sometime in summer/fall 2009. You don’t have to wait until then to read a new book form me though. Among a few releases for other publishers, the sequel to SEXY DEVIL will be out at the end of November.
Titled PRIMAL MALE, this book is my first single title for Aphrodiisia. That one wasn’t a binge write…and I worry about it.
So, to help you get in the mood to support my binging pleasure of writing, I’m going to help you support your own pleasure of reading. If you’re interested in winning a copy…of LUSH …or SEXY DEVIL Share your guilty pleasure with me in the comments, and be entered in the draw.
I have a few copies, so for every ten names entered, we’ll draw a winner. So 20 people share..2 winners…and so on… Winners will be listed here tomorrow!
